So it's good news that doctors and nurses are being laid off, and losing their pay and livelihood due to a massive over reaction/reach/manipulation by our government?

It's good that hospitals didn't get overrun and have to stack dead bodies in the alley. It became evident early on that this was not going to happen, yet lockdowns and restrictions continued to increase. The goal was supposedly not to overrun hospitals, instead, they drained them completely empty. No, that is not a good thing.

The article has some good information but mixes laboratory analysis with assumptions on real world conditions.

For example, commenting on number of infectious agents (viruses) + time (amount of exposure) is correct. This is why nursing homes and prisons have high rates due to the captive occupants who are exposed repeatedly 24/7. Linking this to the lab data on how many viruses are expelled in a breath, cough or sneeze, however, does not take into account real life conditions in a supermarket for example.

All supermarkets have huge HVAC systems that maximize cool air flow and air exchanges. This is why we are not overwhelmed with body odor, perfume, etc. while shopping among 200 people. The high velocity air flow, directed downward from ceiling vents, pushes all airborne particles to the floor many times faster than a normal room and probably 100 times faster than a lab chamber. The amount of airborne viruses in a supermarket, therefore are minimal. Most restaurants have similar environments because their HVAC systems are designed to handle maximum occupancy.

Bottom line is that there is no bottom line. If you wear masks/gloves and keep a 6 ft distance but practice poor personal hygiene, fail to wash hands frequently and constantly touch your face...you are likely to become infected. If you don't wear gloves/masks and keep normal distance but wash your hands before leaving any public place and avoid touching your face, you will likely not become ill.

The comments on asymptomatic carriers also blends the two kinds of folks who test positive but have no symptoms: the large majority who will never develop systems because their immune system will quickly defeat the virus and then the smaller group who will develop systems and become ill later.
This smaller group is the one for which transmission is highly likely, but the other larger group is condemned as being infectious when there is minimal data to confirm this.

Again, good info here but still not to be taken at 100%

It is now very clear that the virus is not nearly as bad as people thought, and we need to start opening up.

Hospitals are not being overrun, they are empty with workers laid off.

Across the U.S., convention centers and empty fields were transformed into emergency field hospitals at a cost to federal taxpayers of more than $660 million. Most haven't treated a single patient.

No argument from me, I am not arguing. I said hospitals are empty, you asked if I was "trolling", I proved that I was not, now you seem exasperated. Not sure why.

My point is - we locked down TOO hard. We locked down so hard that hospitals and covid treatment centers are empty. They need a controlled spread, that's what "flatten the curve" means (a stupid phrase that I am sick of hearing). It doesn't mean stop 100% of all infections forever. That's not possible, the virus is here and it will spread.

I don't get it. They believed the WHO and Fauci, which was an understandable thing to do (though I never believed them), and even after it has been proven that they were extremely wrong and even deceptive, they still believe them. It makes no sense. It's like they want the virus to be bad to show that their fear was justified.

It really has gone on too long. There was no surge, hospitals are empty. We need to loosen up a bit and let the hospitalizations happen at a maintainable rate.

Well, YES! If we can put all the private hospitals out of business, we can have single payer. Duh!

                              It's a fear-based religion. You can't reason with them.

So before anyone even attempted to re-open the hospital ships on the east and west coast were shut down, all temporary Covid treatment centers were dissembled, and many hospitals and ER’s that put extra resources in place have now removed them.

I am not saying the virus is not to be taken lightly, but unless you know something we all don’t why wouldn’t you leave these in place JUST in case there was the influx of patients once we try to resume some sort of return to normal life again? I mean all the money has already been spent getting these resources set up so what’s another month or so leaving them alone? I just don’t get it.
