The unexpected cases can mean one of 2 things.

Either the bioweapon spread faster or it was spreading longer in our population than we realized and we didn't realize it was even to that extent because of no faceplant videos from here.

What if Wuflu was spreading in Wuhan in say October?

As you say the cases of severe disease are showing up now so if you overlay the time lines of the progression of the disease in California and Wuhan they begin to look a little more similar.

Its hardly imagination to figure that videos with no corroboration, coming from a country with strict media controls, millions of people worldwide that want to make their leadership look bad, and showing downright silly "medical" information are fake. If people were working one minute and falling over dead from the virus the next minute we would have seen that happen in the 180,000+ deaths outside China.

R naught is NOT the rate of death.

The number is a measure of potential transmissibility. It does not actually tell you how fast a disease will spread.

100% of videos of people dying instantly were showing people in China. 0% of the videos showing people dying instantly have been from outside China. Thats pretty solid factual support from what I see. I really cant understand why it would be hard to believe those videos were not real virus deaths when the videos were hard to believe in the first place. We have 180,000+ deaths outside China to look at for this, there is 0 supporting evidence for believing the videos were real.

It will be interesting to see what happens when anti-body testing is readily available. My family had four trips to urgent care the end of November and beginning of December. All high fever, cough, body aches and rash, tested negative for influenza...... diagnosis, some type of virus. Had direct contact with people from China in November. Most likely odd coincidence but who knows.

I've seen 2 here but that that doesn't change the point that we are both making,

it didn't happen....at least not at the time when people must have been exposed to the virus for them to get "a bad flu" and be showing Wuflu antibodies in the tests this much later.

But as what's his face points out plenty of people are getting sick and even dying now.

The difference between getting sick and flopping in the street in China and getting sick here and going to the hospital is explainable by the difference in access to medical care but it's not the point.

Lets consider that the same thing in 2 places as "onset".

The point is the timing of getting sick.

If we consider the time frame of onset here to the timing of when all these people showing antibodies without having had severe illness months ago would have to have been infected and overlay that on the timing of the face plants in Wuhan you have to wonder whether the infectious spread in Wuhan might have happened much earlier than we thought and we just are not doing face plants to the same extent.

It's not that the videos are fake it's that we did not become seriously ill to the extent people in Wuhan did when subjected to the same event.

The question is why and it's kind of important.

My theory is that distinct from a cold where you get it and have it till you get over it with this you get it or get it bad depending on the viral load you take on.

That explains the differences in Italy with there kissy face habits and NYC with their public transportation and human density as well as china with both plus poor hygiene as well as California with more open spaces and the ill and elderly being more subject to a bad result everywhere.
