If covid-19 is sensitive to heat, maybe put your shoes in front of one of these for 30 minutes.

Sounds like the "experts" aren't in complete agreement on how much risk shoes present.

The coronavirus can survive on shoes for more than five days. Experts advise people to go for machine-washable shoes if possible.

If it works or if the commercial machine i ordered gets here i'll have a booming supply of disinfectant for free till i run out of salt or water.

A sprayer bottle application for the shoes, mail, old masks, hands, face, groceries or anything suspect is the plan moving forward.

That's not what you want, that's caustic.

hydrochlorous acid is PH 5 or so.

              you could drink it,
one of it's uses is as a rinse for under your eyelids for some malady or other.

It's drawback and why it isn't more common in the US is it's shelf life....2 weeks?

In japan it's pretty much the standard for hospital disinfection and it's said to be 100x more effective than bleach.

The process is simple but i haven't worked out some things about it yet.

It's just electrolysis of water with a little salt in it to make the water more conductive.

FYI - You can use white vinegar to lower the pH of your bleach solution. This will create a much more effective sanitizer. Just ensure you are adding the vinegar to an already dilute bleach solution.

I carry a bleach/water solution in my work vehicle. When I get home I spray my boots then wait about 5 minutes before I walk to garage where I take off my clothes and put them in a Trash can dedicated for soiled clothes. I sanitize myself before entering house and directly into the shower. After 48 hours or when laundry is needed I dump bag directly into washing machine.

ALL shoes off before coming in the house. Spray the bottoms with %10 bleach.

I have a cheap 14 dollar wooden stool by the door that I picked up at walmart years ago.

I don't wear shoes in the house, and have a mat next to the door. I come in, sit down, take shoes off, and go about my business. If going out, I sit down, put shoes on, open door and leave.

I use sandals or crocks if running outside for something quick.

The stool also works great for cleaning guns.

A dedicated room / area where you come home, undress completely, then jump directly into the shower, THEN put "safe / clean" home clothes on.

                            Not a bad idea.

Aren't "mud rooms" somewhat common, where you can come in, leave muddy boots & wet clothes, then change into dry & clean clothes?

                            Something like that.....
Pretty much this. I am at risk due to medical conditions and my wife teaches 4th grade.
We have a long hallway where pretty much any family member who has been out and about needs to take off clothes and sanitize their hands before jumping in the shower. It is only my wife and I and our 15 year old son currently at home so usually it is just my wife who goes out to get needed supplies.

we have been in strict quarantine and sanitation mode since the beginning of January and I am getting a little stir crazy at this point.

                              ^^ This.

Shoes stay outside and get sprayed down.
