Population age roughly the same.Guys,
I was looking at the mortality numbers this morning. Especially for Italy and Germany.
As of today, Italy's mortality rate is about 10%... while Germany's is around 0.5%.
Italy has twice as many cases as Germany (80,539 vs. 43,646).
So my question for those following what's going on in Europe more closely than me.. is what is it that Germany is doing that Italy isn't doing... or vice versa?
Then the $64,000 question.. is the US response more like Italy's, or Germany's?
Better medical system. Italy was known for years to have a horrible system until the big push for socialized medicine in the US propagandized that information away. Spain too.
US Response? Blows the doors off any other nation on the planet, but don't expect it to be covered that way, gotta maintain the propaganda that our system is inferior."I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious." - Thomas Jefferson, 1824

Germany has less people living in crowded family settings. Germany is also well organized, well run, and one of the wealthiest countries. More people in Italy and Spain live together in large extended families. "Mi familia" is crazy with those cultures. All viruses spread quickly in clusters like family, school and work groups. Just wait till it gets into immigrant communities and Latin America.
I expect that the way it plays out in the US will be regional. Some places that are super crowded like NYC are going to be like Italy. Louisiana is screwed because of mardi gras last month. CA may be more like Germany, since the government "over reacted" and imposed a shelter in place order relatively quickly compared to other regions.Last edited by Tere_Hanges; 03-26-2020, 11:37 AM.CRPA and NRA member.
Note that those who have repeatedly expressed enough vile and incoherent content as to render your views irrelevant, have been placed on my ignore list. Thank you for helping me improve my experience and direct my attention towards those who are worthy of it. God bless your toxic little souls.Comment

Do a YouTube Search on Italian mayors. Watch some of the videos.
The gist is the populace was generally ignoring the shutdowns.#NotMyPresident

Italy probably has far more old folk living in same household or close proximity with younger generations, and an overwhelmed health system - socialism!Comment

Many companies are using inexpensive immigrant labor to manufacture handbags that bear the coveted “Made in Italy” label.
"The first significant wave of Chinese immigrants arrived in the industrial zone around Prato, a city fifteen miles northwest of Florence, in the nineteen-nineties. "
"Throughout the aughts, Chinese continued to show up in Tuscany. A non-stop flight was established between Wenzhou and Rome.
Some migrants came with tourist visas and stayed on. "
"Prato is believed to have the second-largest Chinese population of any European city, after Paris, and it has the highest proportion of immigrants in Italy, including a large North African population."Real Californian...Comment

Thank you for these two completely useless articles. Neither of these provide any comparison or even useful information in comparing the amount of Germany-China travel to Italy-China travelhttps://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2...ags-in-tuscany

The connection between Northern Italy (where the outbreak was at its worst) and Wuhan is well-documented.
Italy's garment industry jumped into bed with manufacturing in Wuhan, just that simple. It was a financially successful partnership, so much so that 100,000 Chinese moved to Northern Italy and hundreds of thousands of Chinese throughout the whole of Italy. Direct flights to Wuhan were found to be profitable years ago.
It's not necessarily a case of governmental reaction (although some do believe so: https://www.foxnews.com/media/newt-g...ea-coronavirus) -- no politician is going to ask for money because "a bunch of Chinese immigrants live in this area, and that nation keeps spitting out new plagues, so we need to be prepared", that's obviously political suicide
