If you have a well, you have water.
You just have to use your brain.
Should of had a generator to run the well pump.
There are companies that make hand pumps to drop down next to your electric pump.
There are DC pumps you can drop down the well and run off solar panels.
In a absolute emergency, pull the well pump, and make a small bucket to drop down to gather water. (Probably have to filter and boil the water depending on what your casing is made of and how much material is knocked off by raising and lowering your bucket).
Where there is a will, there is a way.Comment

I haven't drank tap water in years. But, I've been refilling and labeling the gallon jugs that the market water comes in. If water service is interrupted these refilled jugs can be used for canned soup, dried food, instant coffee, personal hygiene or rinsing off dishes. This will make your bottled drinking water last longer.

Fair enough. As others have said, a generator would have been a hell of an investment/insurance policy instead of the last few guns/ammo purchases.Not everyone has city water. I live in a rural area where everyone is on private wells. If the power goes out, there is no water.
There are no stores within 10 miles. Remember the PG&E shutdowns? Anyone living in such an area that does not stock up on bottled water is an idiot.
You know that just shutting off the gas and the in and out flow to your hot water heater will give you 40+ gallons of potable water right ??Last edited by OCEquestrian; 03-22-2020, 11:40 AM."Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. What pisses me off is that people in the private are expected to suffer. I have not heard anything about non essential gubment employees being furloughed They will still get paid. The gubment still wants our income taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, gasoline taxes, etc.
Like I've said before - most gubment agencies and employees think we exist to serve (and fund) them. Screw them!... The liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
* Creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
* Satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
* Augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
* Rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the governmentComment

Yep, those in gov't making these shut it all down decisions do not suffer any immediate consequences. Tax collections going down will hurt them eventually, but probably not quick enough and soon enough. It will take many businesses to band together and stop sending money NOW to the state and localities to make a real statement.What pisses me off is that people in the private are expected to suffer. My mother always told me to be careful what you ask for.
Just one more piece of parental advice I stupidly ignored.

California Gov. Newsom's home almost out of toilet paper amid coronavirus outbreak,
Look at how many MIGHT have been exposed who are self-quarantining; supposedly to demonstrate their commitment to self-sacrifice and for the good of their colleagues.
Here Are All the Florida Politicians Who Self-Quarantined for Coronavirus
Who are the lawmakers who have coronavirus, or have self-quarantined for it?
It couldn't be more akin to "running like scared rabbits" could it? Nope. They are "leading by example" and demonstrating what it means to act like a patriotic citizen in the best interest of their fellow Americans.
That's what we're told we should believe. So, why question?

Viruses don't give a damn about walls, servants, or guards.The line between civilized behavior and not has always been somewhere between thin, and imaginary. We've decided to elect people who were immune from the laws that existed, and who vote themselves immune from the new laws they pass. We've decided to replace social capital with big government. We're the only country who expects every person to be a socio-political activist, and at the same time systematically deprives students of the subject-matter expertise with which to conduct that activity. The government has intentionally flooded the state with those most likely to be a social and economic burden, and enacted government policy that causes people to flee who are most likely to produce and pay taxes.
The storm is coming, unfortunately. But our political elites will be safe behind their castle walls, surrounded by servants and armed bodyguards, immune from the cost of anything - materially, physically, and psychologically.

I'm more rural than most of you. I have a 10K tank of water and 3 separate wells that keep it filled on floats. I put in the provisions when I installed the tank where I can power all of my wells with one genny. I have another genny already wired into the main via a gen trans switch. It won't run the entire house, but will give us what we need for the time being. My wife will be pissed when she can't run the kureg, run the blow dryer and keep all of our freezers and refers going at once, but she'll get over it.Comment

As long as the lights are still on and trucks make their food deliveries, we are okay. But I do believe that we cannot sustain an economy where the majority of businesses are shutdown and everyone is told to shelter in place. We need to go back to work or the bottom will eventually fall out. This is not me saying this, plenty of economic experts confirm this.Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Our media is being very political and otherwise "non-civil", so I think that there's a good chance if there's any amount of adversity during this pandemic people WILL overreact.
Just check out this latest gem:

So, Trump is evil if he's stating that we're not all going to die a horrible death from this virus? Was Winston Churchill a vile, evil man for suggesting that the Brits could stand up to the NAZIs?"What is a moderate interpretation of the text?
