Well you could go up forum to one of the reports of Wuflu cases increasing then go to the window and look outside to see if it's summer in your world.

Well played My estimate of a "couple weeks" was about as accurate as a Dr Fauci forecast.




But here we are 3 months later the sky didn't fall. Sweden and Italy have gone through the fire and emerged with some empty beds in their nursing homes. The rest of the world took measures to "flatten the curve" and apparently succeeded. The curve ended up being a little longer. If we take the USA 110k 'covid' deaths and subtract the 25% that were documented by the CDC as being over-counted we end up with a current death toll of 82k. That's still very much like Flu, so even my original thread title still is valid! Not to mention that without the deliberate introduction of covid patients into NY and PA nursing homes under the direction of the CDC, we'd likely be at 50-60k 'covid' deaths.

During a rare moment of candor WHO said that covid spread through asymptomatic carriers is "still very rare", implying that it has always been rare. You can take off your masks now.

The covid hoax was the biggest global deception imposed upon humankind - until Black Lives Matter came along.

Even if you try and right off 25% of deaths, they are still 3x that of the flu.

I don't even really disagree with your overall position - that so long as ICU beds are available and not at risk of being overwhelmed we should operate an open economy with mild modifications. I just don't get why you want to understate the severity of the virus.

Not facts exactly, but an observation.

Covid doesn't do well out doors especially in the day time. It can't take being dried out and ultraviolet straight out kills it. It does best in lower temperatures and indoors where there is less ultraviolet and it has a better chance of reaching the next person before the droplets containing it dry out.

In lowland Arizona like Phoenix, people head indoors to more virus friendly air conditioned spaces. It's hard to be outside when it is 115 in the shade. If you are in your own home, you are great with social distancing and all. However, if you are inside hosting a party or at a mall it is not so good.

The going inside in the summer exists in the whole southern US except for high altitude or the right on the west coast. Anyone having spent a hot summer day in Houston or Atlanta can attest to the wonder of air conditioning. Gathering indoors is the issue with virus transmission.

It's not quite so universal as the need to stay indoors in a Mid West winter day, but it still results in many of us inside a building and in close quarters.

If we all had enough N95 masks we could probably knock it right out. It is all about breaking the chain of transmission. We sure don't have all the information and understanding of this yet, but we appear to know a lot more than we did in March.

Another data point has to be the virus behavior in hot an humid places. Singapore is more or less a first world place. It is certainly not a destitute third world hole. It is also just three degrees above the equator. Despite way stronger measures that we undertook, they have not stamped it out.
