In 2018, Italy had 3,325 deaths attributed to automobile accidents

In the last 30 days, SARS2 (CoVid19) has killed over 7,500 people in Italy --doubling the amount of deaths attributed to automobile accidents.

Miles driven in Italy isn't even remotely comparable to US..
      Neither is covid-19 demographics.

I'm sure people would love to argue about it for days though.

Why not compare it to flu deaths, since this is "just the flu"?

In the raw numbers, twice as many people died in airplane crashes USA than active shooters USA (total numbers 2000-2013). Despite that airplane is the safest way to travel by the mile (but not by the trip).

None of this has anything to do with Corona just like number of automobile deaths. =)

Number of regular flu deaths is relevent though, because it is still far greater and we don't shut anything down for regular flu even though every year the regular flu is a different strain. Regular flu is the closest comparable phenomenon to corona.

Regular flu had a particularly bad/higher season just 2 years ago killing 80,000 in USA. Nobody knew/cared...

The problem is that the corona cases are filling the hospitals and straining the health care system beyond breaking. Sure - death rates TODAY are relatively low as the first wave of patients go into generally empty and prepared hospitals with respirators, ventilators and plenty of equipment for each patient. Once the hospitals and full and there are no more respirators, ventilators and other equipment, you will very quickly see the death toll rise dramatically. You look at the death toll today and shrug your shoulder while standing NEXT to the elephant in the room - the death toll tomorrow.

Look even Faux news is saying this is bad. You need to get with the program.
I'll have to agree with you here.

I think that we'll find out that the Coronavirus is about the same in fatality rate as influenza when we finally get the numbers-more contagious, but about the same impact.

The issue is that we can't have a "double flu" season in the US due to hospital capacity, and the issue is even worse in many nations with socialized healthcare. The US has hospitals almost overwhelmed every year from the flu season alone, so having double the number of cases WILL overwhelm the system, meaning that people who could survive will not-including people who don't even contract Coronavirus. How do you survive that heart attack if there's no hospital bed?

Things are even worse in Italy because they have about 1/3rd the number of critical care beds per capita as the US. Their system gets overwhelmed just that much sooner even before you consider the age of their population and the amount of smoking, etc.

It CAN be true that Coronavirus isn't on its own as deadly as the media is portraying AND that it can collapse the healthcare system leading to more widespread deaths.

I know just my outpatient office alone is getting completely overwhelmed by everyone demanding free phone consults, demanding prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, and demanding one of the scarce tests at the local hospital (requiring quite a bit of effort from our office and myself). I can only imagine how bad it is at the front line.
