Anyone have a nice cheap mossbery 9 shot from big 5 sporting goods? With a light mounted? I was looking at cheaper than dirt for the top mounted pic rail, that goes from front barrel to body on the top, I guess a x300 or tlr-1 could be mounted at the end, but anyone else have any other solutions to mount a light?

Primarily home defense is the goal for my husband, just looking for ideas and examples.

cheap & nice are hard to put in the same sentence. In the past I have ended up spending more money buying cheap because the cheap breaks and you have to replace it or it ends up looking stupid. You cant go wrong with a surefire rig but it will set you back 350 bucks.

or you could buy some cheap scope mounts and mount a light to it that way.

I highly recomend getting a simple universal flashlight barrel clamp and a P6 or P9 flashlight. Run the optional pressure switch if you must, but they work fine and are super reliable and durable.

I have run Surefire dedicated flashlights on several guns for LE work for years. I felt really stupid when I saw a small town cop show up with a "simple" (read KISS) system that did 99% of what my more systems did for hundreds less... I ended up selling my 618FGA's, M900A's, 628F's and M500A's to go with P6's, P9's and some pressure switches. I will never go back.

Clamp and rail, you can mount a sling swivel on one side a light on the other.

Surefire makes really nice foregrips. You can get them for around $200.
Go for the LED though. It can take more abuse.

Here's a cheap and solid fix for mounting a tac light. I bought a set of scope mounts that were the mirror image of each other. I think they were for a Savage or something, cost was $6. Picked up a set of stainless machine screws and two nuts at Home Depot for a total of $1.50. Placed the scope mounts on the bolts with the back facing each other and threaded the bolts just enough so they would not come off. I then wrapped the bolts with a bit of electrical tape, primarily to keep the threads from scratching the barrel. Removed the barrel nut and slid the two bolts between the barrel and the mag tube. Tightened the barrel nut, placed a drop of lock-tite on each nut then tightened them snug. Then attached the light. Total cost was about $8 and took about 10 minutes to put together. I've had no problems with it either. Stays in place, no rattle, and much cheaper than the alternative. Here's a few pics.

Got a link to those rails? That looks like a good solution for me. All I'd have to find is a ring or mount for my light.

Head to walmart, sports authority or big 5. They should have something. The important thing is that the holes line up like you stated. I picked mine up from Walmart in the clearance section but something like this will do: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...:referralID=NA
