    Knoxx SpecOps Stock

    Hi,
Does anybody have one of these and actually used it with slugs 400gr+ ? What's your experience with it's recoil reduction?

I've shot another Calgunner's Mossberg 500 slug gun with 1 oz slugs (430 something grain...), and the recoil reduction was definitely there.

You still do have recoil, it's just slowed way down by the springs. Instead of a slap, you get a very gentle (but insistent) push. You can actually feel the receiver come back toward your shoulder as the stock allows it to move. Watch out if you use a scope!

IIRC, I fired five rounds through it. I'd go out on a limb and say I could have shot a lot more through it and not really felt it the next day.

DON'T use it with a scope. You WILL get bitten.
I have one on my wife's mossy 500 and she loves it. I've tried it previously on a rem 870 and fired 3in slugs with both in testing before I signed off on the idea for my wife's use. Its kinda a spongy sprong movement of the stock. If the monster slugs hurt then this stock is for you.

As a side note...I like their recoil reducing stock that looks like a standard stock better. I've used that one for years and it just suites me better.

Knoxx stock works 100% as advertised.

If i were to buy a pump again (which would be never in my life again) i would throw a knoxx on it.

I would never buy a pump now that i own saiga 12's

It can be done without getting nailed. I did it. You just have to make sure the scope has a bit more eye relief, and remember to use it.

            (side question)
Is the Saiga 12 just as legal in CA as the Mossberg 500? And how does recoil compare to the Mossberg's, with identical slug loads?

No, otherwise you would find them in every Big 5 store. In CA, a Saiga 12 is classified as a Category 3 Assault Weapon unless it has a magazine lock which requires a tool to remove it.

According to this, isn't a shotgun with the Knoxx SpecOps Stock on it illegal, too?

It depends if it's a semi or pump.

Sorry, I missed that while fixating on the two criteria.

I have one and it definitely works great. Slugs are no longer a problem. 3.5 Magnum buckshot however, still hurt..but I would hate to shoot 3.5'' without the Knoxx

I had a problem with either my shotgun or stock where it would semi extract the empty shell during the recoil/rebound process. I took it to a gunsmith they said my 870 is 100% so it might be my form or the stock.

I noticed the stock got loose because I didn't use loctite. When it was slightly loose, I dry fired while sliding the foreend back in one motion to duplicate recoil. And it would slide back.

I then tightened the stock again with loctite and I tried to dry fire while pulling the slide back and it wouldn't move unless I pushed the foreend forward slightly, then back to rack it.

Just a FYI if you run into that issue.
