I'm looking for my first hammer. I want to be able to demo block walls with it but also drive finishing nails in trim, shape sheet metal and tap out small pins in my guns with it. Which one is the best one to get?

The current wisdom dictates an 18" barrel for home defense, 26" barrel for skeet, 28" for trap. Not a lot of people buy 30" barrels anymore unless they do a lot of goose hunting. Auto-wise, Remington and Winchester give you a wide range of choices. Even the Remington 1100 (which is no longer in production) is fairly easy to find and a good buy for the money. I say go with 12 or 20 gauge. They are the most popular.Comment
