    Best shotgun with interchangable barrels

Looking for first shotgun. Would like one I can change barrels on. One for skeet and one for home defense. Suggestions?

A Remington 870..........................................if you can find an older style one without the new one-piece extended magazine tube.

The "best" shotguns with interchangeable barrels are going to run in the six figure range. I think you want a basic 870 or 500. But, shooting skeet with a pump action is not the easiest thing to do. Do you really mean "skeet"? Or, do you just mean breaking clays? Skeet, Trap, 5 stand, Sporting clays, etc. are all different shotgun sports that use clay pigeons. If you are set on skeet, you should look for an O/U or semi auto and get a different gun for HD.

Look at a Remington 1100. Lots of different barrels for them.

Any shotgun will have a bunch of barrels, 870 will be what everyone will say, but there are many other better options in a shotgun

There are 110 barrels in 12ga for the 870 so the 870 is the most versatile pump out there.

I you get the 870 Express with the 26" or 28" barrel for around $340-$350 and you get a $25 rebate from Remington. You then get the 18.5" police IC Bead Sight for $110. So, it will not be over $600 for what you want.

Shooting skeet with a pump will make you a better gunner and a better shot.

There are other options, but none that are better for OP's stated purpose and as a first shotgun.

My only problem is that spare 28 inch barrel is a fixed choke, if it had interchangeable chokes be the ideal starter gun. Later on think about O/U ETC if you want to specialize. Don't get to hung up with the one shotgun can't do it all when your just getting your feet wet. Plus later if you branch out you already have your HD gun.

I met a new shooter at the club who shoots a Mossberg 500 ...With some coaching he went from short shucking, forgetting to pump the action, not knowing how to properly mount or properly shoot a shotgun to shooting the high 20's and his first straight in less then six months. What he did do is practice.

CSACANNONEER, I respectfully disagree ,others and myself shoot Skeet, Sporting Clays and Trap with a pump...no big deal once you learn to do so.

                            ><

                            Back on track

Remington 870 Express (28" barrel not the new HD)
                            Remington 870 Wingmaster
                            Mossberg 500
                            Remington 1100
                            Browning BPS
                            Browning A-5

You want a long barrel with removable choke tubes
Plain field stock , no pistol grips
                            Plain bead sight

The rest is what you like as far as feel and one that fits you
