Why is it called a pickle?

The wireless controller which throws the clays, why is it called a pickle????

I've heard that term used to refer to the large green button used to drop ordnance in WWII era bombers. (At least, that's the story i was told)

Maybe it's a holdover?

Pretty much it I believe.

I found better results by searching for "Pickle Switch" and there came upon this explanation:

The Norden Bombsight used by American B17 Bombers during WWII often was claimed to be so accurate that by using it you could drop bombs in a "pickle barrel". Hence the switch used by the bombadier to release his bombs was referred to as the "pickle switch". Now any switch used to fire weapons or start a particular event may be named a pickle switch.
