I thought about 60% of all shotgun use would be cold conditions, and about 30% damn cold and wet.

I don't get why guns like 870 etc wouldn't have factory made swap out parts for big gloves, etc.

Maybe folks went to upgraded gloves? I remember an old relative had some finely made leather/wool glove that wear amazingly thin and warm (but cost 1/2 months pay back in the day).
Am I a good shot!?!, YEAH I'M A GOOD SHOT!....i just got bad aim

That's JD's point and why he wants us to make a trigger group with a bigger trigger guard. The only problem we have is how we would market it. Do we offer complete trigger groups? Or just the armature that you have to take to a licensed gunsmith to build up? It's complicated.

I'm not a process engineer so I am not sure how much those steps really lower cost but I think it all depends on use. My 20g is for small birds and bunnies and smaller framed friends and family to shoot trap. Its never going to get a rail.

My duck gun is an older 500 not drilled and tapped but its never going to wear a rail as a duck gun.

One of my other 500's is the house gun and I just got a turkey barrel for it and it can take a rail and will when I get out and use a red dot.

For $250 or so the maverick 88 security setup is hard to beat for a not so well off guy, gal or family that still wants to protect the "homestead".

I am fan of people buying good enough if that is all you can afford until you can afford the "best".

All in all, it seems better to start off with the Maverick 88 if you're going for a Mossberg 500 with safety by the trigger. I'd just swap out the forend with another, action slide tube, and nut. Got one of these as my first gun and love it.

            Yeah, but 590A1>870 IMHO.
I have an 870 already, would love to ditch it and have two 590s. Probably will end up doing it regardless, but a pistol grip 590 would make it happen.

Can't manipulate the safety on/off very easily with the PG Mossberg.

If you run straight stock, then yes, the Mossberg safety is perfect.

Mitch, you ever get anywhere with this?
