I'd take that bet. The Chinese ban is still going strong. And the Republicans forgot to rescind it when they controlled Congress and the White House. In fact, they strengthened in in 2003!

Making things in the US is expensive and not getting any cheaper. If American shooters were willing to pay FN SCAR prices for rifles and shotguns, it would not be a problem. But no one will be making a Saiga in the US and selling it for $800.

Nothings changed in China since the sanctions.

If Russia changed course... then the sanctions might go away.

funny since I think the pre ban prices were still inflated from the previous panic.

I mean; how much was a Saiga 12 when they came out and or 8 years ago (which ever is shorter)?

I know for a fact in 2010 they were $500 and I'm told even that was inflated.

aaaand that's why we won't ever make an equivalent gun here. "Gun guys" are both cheap as hell and picky as hell about guns. If you made a quality gun that ran out of the box for $799, guys would whine, complain & whinge about buying Saigas in 2003 for $199.

How much whinging have you heard about remmy 870 express models having terrible paint jobs & plastic parts? It's a freakin $300 gun... with tax, and a big box of ammo!

I got lucky & tagged a Saiga 12 @ ~$600-ish.. No complaints here if it needs some love & $$ to reliably throw lead downrange. It's worth owning just because bloomie doesn't want us to have them.

In a free state with no mag lock a s12/vepr12 is cool

In CA it's just a nightmare....that's why I run all my AKs featureless

The AK actually has some very distinct ties to its German predecessor.

I agree, it is not worth it really. Even though I am going to hang onto mine for the foreseeable future.

                      Nightmare? Not really. Annoying? Yes.
I love my V12, I've only owned it a few months and it already has over 1300 rounds through it. My old Mossberg 500A that I bought in the '90s has fewer than 400 rounds through it.
                      Fun is fun.
I hate the "bullit button" BS on my AR15 type thing too but it is not going to stop me from enjoying it for what it is.
Point being, buy the shotgun/rifle/pistol because you like it and enjoy it for what it is reguardless of what stupid laws you have to abide by.

Nothing aside from their becoming our biggest trading partner and holder of Federal debt.

Good chance Hillary will be the next Executive in charge, I don't see her loosening any of Dear Leader's EOs, they are of the same mindset about guns, vehement antis.
