From everything I've read, the 930 does not have close to 100% reliability. Some have great luck, others...not so much. For a "fun gun" either would do just fine. If you want a serious HD gun that you would bet your life on...Go with the Benelli...
Correct. I have one and, frankly, I'm kind of disappointed with it. You can watch youtube videos all day long showing guys shooting their 930s with every type of ammunition available, but they're the lucky ones. Mine shoots just fine with slugs and some buckshot, but it hangs up frequently enough that if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't buy another.

Personally I would not sell my M4. Went through fronsight's 4 day defensive shotgun class with it and no problems. Argos system, Mesa tactical stock with limbsaver, along with a PAST shoulder pad made sure my shoulder didn't even have a small bruise. 600 rounds of bird, buck, and slugs without an issue. Dave's speed bar is a simple way to deal with the tiny bolt release button without tools. A larger charging handle is a must. I have the Versamax also which is a cheap copy of the M4. It's not a bad gun but I do see the difference in quality. HD I would use my M4. Hunting and clay shooting I would just use my versamax with 28" barrel.

I've had my M1S90 for damn near 20 years, I expect it to go to the grave with me, never had a problem, not even with bulk bird shot. M1s and M2s should be considered.

In the early 2000s the 922r police (BLM) spent 3+ hours with me trying to take my baby, but in the end they couldn't figure it out.

You are the first person I've ever heard of having an encounter with the 922r police. Glad they didn't get your shotgun. That rule/law is the dumbest sh*t ever.

That's why you bring the SPX and leave the Benelli at home!

I've owned both. The SPX is expendable, the Benelli is not.
