The KSG is GTG, especially the Gen 2. Like most pump-action shotguns, we need to rack-it-like-we-mean-it.

Rack it 'all the way' back with confidence (especially important for the last 1/4" of travel, make sure 'all the way' back), then rack it all the way forward. Don't hesitate, so the mechanism can carry-through the complete shell feeding course without FTF.

Don't baby it. After the first hundred rounds or so break-in period, it will smooth out. At last, for the recoil reduction, slip-on a small-size Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. It looks and works great.

Even if it jams or seizes or misfires, at least the person wielding it will look like an operator, possibly forcing the intruder into submission by the visual presentation and ferocity of the (jammed) weapon and its deep pocketed owner.

I am poor and simple so I'll stick with my old Wingmaster 870. It is an old hand me down police gun but it goes boom every time.

Yea like a lot of you guys have mentioned I wouldnt use it as my HD gun at this point... but I was wondering if from your experiences with a little more practice could it become a more viable option for HD? Its true that you really got to pump it with force but I ve never had a problem short-stroking anyother shotgun... when I did start stroking it with some authority it became more reliable but you definitely gotta remember to do that...

I guess I just really had high hopes for it.. its just so compact and perfect size for HD.. i ll give it a little more practice before I make it my HD gun.

And because everything needs to be 'tactical' these days...

So you have serious reliability issues with a kel tek, what else is new lol.

No i would never use a gun that is not reliable or replaceable for HD. if my mossy 500 is confiscated i can replace it and everything on it for under $400, can you do that with a KSG?

Nope and I'm not too into the $140.00 price tag. But you'd probably be the only one at the range who has one.

I get some funny looks at the range when I bring my wrist rocket. Until I start hitting the targets, then they want to try it. Great fun!

Nrai2020- are you near L.A.? I know my way inside a KSG now, I'd be happy to take a look for you, provided you can work around my nutty baby schedule.

axhoaxho- There's a fix for that last bit of drag at the rear of the pump travel. It involves shaving down a bump of plastic- presumably put there to capture the pump tot he rear to lock it open. I shaved it down (but not off completely) and my buddy's gun feels great (and polished a couple internal pieces). Not as slick as my Mossberg, but not far off either- a far cry from stock.

As far as shells hitting your wrist- I fired that KSG and didn't have that problem at all. I couldn't figure out where the shells were going as they weren't at my feet- turns out they were flying forwards a good 6-8 feet

                        -Dave
