Can you use Remington 1100 wood on a 1187?

Just like the title says.....Father in Law has an 1187 with the black synthetic stuff. Can you put a wood stock and forend from a Remington 1100 on a 1187? If so where is a good source to buy the wood from outright? I don't feel like dealing with Gun Broker for this.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, As for the best place to buy it, Remington. Call 800-243-9700 and follow the prompts to parts. You should go to www.remington.com and on the first page find the word. Support, put your cursor there and in the drop box that comes up find the words "Parts information" and click on that. When that page comes up you find the Remington Parts list and down load that. Find the stock and forend you want and call the number I gave you and order by those part numbers.

You can find them cheaper on line if you want to shop but by going to Remington you assured of getting the right set that you want. You also need to know if you have a light contour barrel as the forend will be different. The Remington Customer service rep is best suited to help you get the right thing.

I believe the 1100 and 1187 share the same furniture. A lot of the stuff I see for sale online usually says something like "for 1100/1187 model shotguns" etc. etc. Why does he want 1100 wood on it? Classier look? My 11-87 Special Purpose is my go-to hunting shotgun so I'd feel guilty putting nice furniture on it and beating it up.

The buttstock will swap over with no issues.

The forearms are different. The detent for the mag cap is on the forearm for the 1100, and on the mag follower for the 11/87. They can be be made to work, but it's not a direct swap.

The 11-87 stocks are a little more beefy then the 1100 ones but they will interchange.
