Can not go wrong with Mossberg, Remington, or Bellini.

But I will toss in a wild card for consideration, Winchester SXP Camp/Field Combo.
It's probability the lowest capacity at 5+1 rounds comparably to the big 3 equivalent, because they are imported.

Slapping an upper onto a lower is not "building" an AR-15.

Damn... $319! I know that guns nothing special but with 18" and 28" barrels, that's tough to beat. Not sure if the barrels are threaded though for different chokes. Is that mandatory or could I live without it? I think it's nice because I can put the 18" on at home and for targets and use the 28" for shooting clays. Opinions?

My colleague has one of those, the 18" barrel is fixed cylinder bore and the 28" barrel has a fixed Modified choke. No screw in chokes for him, and this could be a problem if you want to shoot Skeet. Works great for trap shooting though.

If you decide to go this route, check and double check to make sure the 28" barrel is compatible with screw in chokes.

Looks like the 2 barrel combo doesn't come with a set of chokes, but there is a 28" model that does come with a set of 3 chokes for the same $319 sale price. Just no short barrel. Leaning towards that one.

Just get the one with the threaded barrel. You're gonna want more open chokes for skeet and tighter chokes for trap. You could always find a shorter barrel on eBay or Gunbroker for cheap but chances are you're probably not going to bother swapping barrels every time you come back from the range.

Found a "3 in 1" combo Mossberg 500 on galleryofguns that comes with 28" and 18.5" barrels, exactly what I want. Also it comes with 3 different chokes. Pretty decent price OTD shipped to my LGS. I've read really good things from owners about this setup. Think I'm gonna pull the trigger. Thanks for all the info everybody.

+1 to the Mossberg 500 combo package. That's pretty much the only shotgun I know of that can be easily adapted to shoot skeet or be used for home defense. The 590A1's are tactical only, the Remington 870's are either tactical or sporting only. Your other option would be to get an 870 express with a 28" barrel, and buy an 18" barrel for it, but I'm pretty sure those express models come with a 4 round mag tube, plus it would be more expensive than buying the mossberg 500 combo package. The Mossberg combo package also has a 5 round mag tube.

And btw guys, the shotgun manufacturer is called "Benelli" not "Bellini". Just eh, just pointing that out there.
