^^^This! I have a C&R Rem model 11 with a 28" on it which has been great for clays but Ive been looking for a donor barrel to chop and its been a nightmare. Not even crap condition parts. Finally found one 2days ago but they want $275 for it so the search continues.

The good thing about this gun is that essentially anything Remington 870 will work. Unless I want to keep it all original, getting a working shotgun out of the deal will be the easy part.

Really? I'm no gun smith but what you are saying is that the internals are easily modified? I was always worried about my 1300 taking a dump since the parts have really dried up.

            Doh!

Turns out that model 11 barrel was really for a 11-48 I tried to put it on layaway and got the bad news.

Yup, as is my understanding, 870 is 870. Trying to keep it original would be the hard part.

I'd take Wingmaster over an Express any time. As a matter of fact, I did sell an Express and bought an old circa 1960's 870 Wingmaster----a little surface rust and it looks as if someone shot steel through her but she racks and locks up like a bank vault and no plastic contaminated trigger group.
It's hard to beat a Wingmaster!

Update: bore is nice and shiny now. A little steel wool on a dowel with some Rem oil and a drill and it looks like new. Well, not new, but looks good! I have more hope now!

Another update. Down to bare metal. A little pitted, but who cares? At least all the gunk came off. I have the stuff I need for bluing and a NOS stock set on it's way. If I'm lucky I'll be test firing in 2 weeks. This is a lot of work, but lots of fun! Hopefully it comes out looking nice.

                            Didn't turn out too bad...

1976 wingmaster, 2 3/4 in. chamber, full choke barrel, bluing isn't as good as I wanted, but it was a first try. Fun project, I'm gonna look for another project gun now! Like right now, gonna hit up the pawn shops. Thanks for the help guys.

Edit: just noticed the fingerprints all over the reciever. oh well, it's not perfect anyway. Going to shoot it this weekend.
