Help, cheap flashlight and laser for my HD shotgun?

I have the thunder ranch edition mossy with a pistol grip on it for HD. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for lights and possibly a laser since it will be hip fired. I am clueless when it comes to optics, lights, and lasers. I cant spend a fortune so the $180 lights are out.

Thanks for any input at all guys!

Nebo Protec. I can't vouch for it's quality or reliability It may be 'cheap' on both counts) but the price is in your ballpark.

Checked the Nebo website and found this- Bat light. Literally can "light somebody up" with this thing.

Do not waste money on a cheap light, 12ga will KILL em. Pistol grip only shotguns are NOT the ideal HD shotgun.

Seriously man, this is your life and the lives of your family that we're talking about. Your lives may literally depend on the light hanging off the end of your Mossy. I'm not saying you have to go with a Surefire, but don't skimp on stuff that your life depends on. You saved for the Mossy, save and get a decent quality light for it.

Take a look at Fenix. Cheaper than Surefire but still decent quality.

I just ordered this, I'll be sure to run it through it's paces. I couldn't find any reviews of their stuff on gun sites (not a good sign) but the Amazon reviews of that product are favorable but who knows whether they're mounted on an ar or a shotgun. Looking at their other products the only concurrent hit in seeing is whether their laser/light combos hold zero over time. The flashlight part of it is consistently praised.

                  Some thoughts...

That's the Mossberg you got, right?

Okay...so you have picatinny mounts on either side of the pump arm, yes?

A decent weaponlight will be a good addition:

Or, if that's too much money...the Surefire G2 is a good option:

                  You'll need a mount:

That's a simple way to improve the home defense capabilities of your shotgun. Personally, I have never mounted a laser (IR/non-IR) on a shotgun; only on M16/AR-15 rifles (AN/PAQ-4 & LD ITAL). So, I cannot give you any practical advice there. But, I hope the flashlight recommendations help. Cheers! --1911ShooterPhil

Your behind the light, its not that bad.

Light source, I did not say it was mounted

Is it friend or foe, or are you of the school of "shoot first ask ?'s later"

If you can hip fire a 12 ga. while holding on to a flashlight, my hats off to you, good sir!
You'd still be giving away your position however.
In a HD scenario you'd have your family behind you or at least someplace that's secure where you can account for them. An intruder would know to fire at the light source before being caught in the illumination and shot, and where would you and your family be in relation to that light source?

HD isn't sweeping a warehouse or alleyway---leave that for the police or SO---HD is defensive.

I use a surefire g2 and it's pretty cheap. I think like 50$. It's a great quality light. Skip the laser. If you are the close you should just aim. Ditch the pg and get a real stock.
