+1 for Mossberg.

I would take a Mossberg 500, 500A, 590 over a Rem 870 any day solely based on the location of the slide release. Behind the trigger guard as opposed to in front of makes a heck of a difference.

The mossberg safety isn't behind the trigger guard, it's on top of the gun. The slide release is behind the trigger guard, while the 870's slide release is in front of it.

Yes I remember in 2010 (I think) I put a deposit down at Turners. They have delivered ONE in four years. Today I went there to get my $240 back.

Just as well, now that 2014 is here with the long gun registration.

I don't understand all the issues people are having shooting their KSGs. Ours doesn't give us any problems and we've put thousands of rounds through it. I have two suspicions:

1) Maybe we were lucky with our unit (unlikely, as it was pre-retail, one of the first one made).

2) I wonder if people buy their KSGs then immediately run out to training classes to show it off. The shotgun takes a little getting used to, and short-stroking is a problem that seems to be common with n00bs. But after a couple of short strokes you get the feel of the thing and there aren't any problems at all.

Number two is probably true. Often people who are attracted to new gimmicky tech are newbies. Not meant as an insult, I just mean in a very general sense. I honestly think people are just being dumb about this gun myself. It can't. E THAT hard to operate...

I had one of those 90's era Mossberg bullpups and while it didn't have great capacity (five I think), I never had a problem with it.

Wish I hadn't sold it. It was fun to shoot and always attracted onlookers when I shot it.

To this day I have never seen anything that was an improvement over an 870 Wingmaster or Police. I wouldn't even bother with any of these new jammamatic contraptions. Just another black gun that seems great until you try to actually use it.

Number two seems to be a problem with bullpup shotguns in general, they're pretty unforgiving of light/ short stroking. The UTS-15 is the same way. You have to rack it like you mean it or it jams or misfeeds. I love it but it is not for new / inexperienced shooters.

Most likely #2... Short stroking a pump will result in frustration regardless of make or manufacturer. My brother was having a helluva time with his 590A1 a couple of weeks ago at ASR. The problem was he had gotten too used to not having to pump his Benelli M4 and was short stroking the 590. Once I pointed it out to him he didn't have any problems.

I agree. Short stroking is a problem with all pump guns. In particular new shooters seem to have trouble with lever guns, I have noticed. But that is OT.

OP, sorry to hear about what happened. Maybe you can buy something else that is equally as fancy, or two things that aren't!
