    SoCal Skeet clinic, 3-2-14 Debrief

Soggy but successful clinic today. Triple B was flooded and closed yesterday, but open for business today.

We started with the setup cards handed out by Coach Don Ziegler. Then on to shooting and individual coaching. All were repeat offenders, so we were taught on an advanced level this time. We got a solid 3 hours in before the rains started in. Finished up the clinic with a full round of skeet.

The whole group was in top form thanks to Coach Ziegler and Captain Dick(Richard).

Thanks so much. Can't wait for the next one.

Thanks shovelon for the pics and recap. Your wife took some nice shots with the camera.

Bigfatguy - the cards Coach Z handed out have the five steps of The Plan on them, for reference during clinic to continuously review the Plan, then simply execute it once in station.

I suspect you'll see them soon enough.

I will tell my wife you like the pics.

Yes, the cards setup your plan so that in the words of Coach Z -

      "Hurry Up!"
      "Use the Plan!"
      "Don't Think!"
      "Calm Down!"
      "Gimme my cards Back!"

Thanks shovelon. That was definitely one of the best clinics I've attended. It was really useful to spend time working the presentations at stations 2-6. Shooting skeet in the rain was also a new experience.

Yeah, shooting in the rain at clay targets, by choice, was definitely an experience. I usually don't drop the trigger group for a routine cleaning of our guns after shooting, but had to because of the rain. Three guns to boot.

Totally worth it though - we had a great time, even if my shooting sucked.

            Hey Trapperjohn,
How'd you and your boy do in the Sansei shoot last weekend?

The good news is, I beat him by three targets, so at least he can't gloat.

The bad news is I totally sucked.

Since then, I've discovered I'm cross dominant (shooting right, but having a dominant left eye). This may (hopefully) explain my difficulty especially with left-to-right crossers. Always seemed to be behind the bird, even when I was sure it felt right.

Working now on some aids and techniques to address the cross dominance. Then lots of practice to get it normal.

Am I remembering right; that you had a similar issue and currently wear tape to occlude your left eye? Let me know how that is working.

Thanks for asking. Hope to see you on the field soon.

Yep, I've got tape on the left lens. It takes some getting used to, I'm still not 100% there. It has helped on 3, 4 and 5, but I am having problems on high 2 now. The hold point has to change to compensate...still trying to figure it out.
Here's a video about placement, it may help...
