    Anybody here use wax slugs

I have seen a couple videos on youtube some with a mixture of hot glue. It looks like they work, but i wanted to see if any of you guys had any experience with them? Also, if they hold up in hot weather conditions?

I would use them as an absolute last ditch effort. There are some people that have successfully blown up their guns if not done right. One picture I saw was a blown up Mossberg 590. The though is that the gun was hot enough to melt the wax, dislodging it and it slid part way down the barrel...
Another trick is to slice the hull almost all the way around the wad area so only 1 or 2 small tabs are connecting the top to the base. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube on "cut shells".
Again, I do not recommend either one. Buy a case of cheap centurian slugs and blast away.

People do cut shells all the time, is it safe and recommended? Nope

When I saw the title of this thread, being the shotgun newbie I am, I thought there's a new less-lethal product on the market which shoots a slug made completely in wax.

It is rather interesting to see how these are made, the only unfortunate thing I can see is that the slug will have the aerodynamics of a thrown tin can. If there's a way to mold the wax/birdshot shot mix into a more aerodynamic shape, I think it'll be a lot more interesting.

Cut shells, wax slugs.... I've played with them both. In a screw in choke to boot. Blm land with milk jug= getting wet/fun under the sun

Very interesting effects, I'd say. They tumble when shot. The cut-shell falls apart while in route. While the waxie hold together. Both devastating at point blank range.
          Emergency ammo/shtf....
I used I/C choke and played it safe. Ymmv.

I haven't played with them yet. I'd ONLY use them in emergency/shtf, and the only load them immediately before use.
My AR is 7.62x39, so that if/when we get invaded, I can shoot their ammo back at them!

I would see a cut-shell ONLY coming in handy let's say if you were out hunting upland game and found yourself up against a bear our other wise... You get the idea.

and that's why I ALWAYS carry a couple of slugs/buckshot shells whenever I carry my 12g.

Waxies on the other hand make great breaching rounds, come shtf scenario. FWIW

                Newb fyi:
1.Manual load cut shell in chamber(avoiding cluster fuk in action)
                2.NEVER leave waxie in chamber
                3.Caution w/ cut shell & tighter chokes(barrel cracks)
                4. Waxie- harder waxes work better. Crayons=meh cheapo candles= better hotglue=idk

^^^ Yep, I always carry five shells of #4 buck on me when I'm out hunting rabbits or birds.

There is a better way to do it that does not involve wax...

A buddy of mine made some, we shot them out of a benelli nova, interesting and cheap may to waste a lot of time and water jugs. Also a lot of cleaning was required when all was said and done.
