looking for a new baghdad locksmith

so i just recently sold a mossberg500 with a bunch of stuff, to be honest i have a big void I need to fill now . I already have a 930 spx and I switched out my barrel for a 24" vent rib with ports and running a extra extra full choke. i love it and all but I'm still stuck without a home defense 12 gauge pump . a lot of people are telling my other rifles will do the job, but to be honest i cant imagine letting a few .223 fly without any ear pro. or 7.62x39, and even worse if I do have to use them in a self defense situation is only gonna a hard case to justify in court because their featureless. Besides Ive always been a shotgun kind of guy.

with that being said I am very comfortable with the 500/590 action . however i am also very curious to see what Benelli has to offer.

as for a list of long guns I'm considering to fill the roll:

    Mossberg 500/590
    Benelli supernova
    Remington(old/used)
    maybe a maverick 88 O/U

If any of you guys have any first hand experience with any of these or have any other ideas of what I should check out feel free to chime in. I'm mainly looking for 20" barrel without ghost ring sites.

The second I read the heading I was grinning from ear to ear. I personally would dismiss the Maverick ( I don't care for it). I've owned Mossy 500, 590, 835 and strongly disliked them. I hate the 500 receiver because it's made of aluminum alloy. Problem is as the action bars are used they wear the receiver. Ultimately one ends up with a sloppy action.

Benelli is really nice, but finding affordable parts can be challenging.

I am a Remington 870 believer. I own several which I dedicate to coyote, another turkey, another upland. I am building a NEF Pardner which is an 870 Chinese clone... Long story but in the end it's Remington's way to compete with the Maverick line. With the exception of barrels all 870 parts are interchangable.

My Pardner started off a worn out 28" vent rib. I sawed the barrel to 18.5" and drilled and tapped a Trijicon tritium front sight. Wolf extra power spring with Vang Comp SS follower, Vang Comp oversized safety, new trigger spring, new extra power carrier spring. I am picking it up today from my friend who bead blasted it so I can durakoat it in parker. Plus I'm adding Speedfeed furniture.

So, I endorse 870. Millions have sold and almost every major police department uses them. Technology changes, different shotguns come and go, but 870 continues to be the popular choice.

Cheap clones are hard to beat on both the 500 and 870. The 500 is what we use for breaching when we dont have an m26. But like i said you cant go wrong with either.

I recently bought the Versamax Tactical 22" and I'm very very pleased. Shoots soft can be used for home defense, 3-gun or clays.

Best rifle purchase so far for me.

Nothing wrong with a Maverick. I have hundreds of rounds through mine without any issues. It's a great gun and it's definitely price right. Buy that and then the money you save spend on ammo

I'm in the same boat- wanting a nice HD shotgun.

This pic of a 590A1 was in the shotguns gallery, it really catches my eye...
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

That's a nice shotgun, would definitely look awesome if it was the parkerized color of the heat sheild. That's the color I'm duracoating my 870 wannabe.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

I would in a heartbeat. I believe at that moment I'm more concerned with the threat than my hearing.

I own the Mossberg 500 persuader 20". I put a different stock and foreend on it to facilitate a flashlight. It doesn't have the ghost ring sights that you mentioned. But they can be had. But it would be easier to get a 590 that already has them on. I love my Mossberg. I have put a few hundred rounds through it with no faults except for user error. People complain about the aluminum reciever, but honestly I have not seen any issue with the aluminum. They make freaking airplanes out of aluminum and a lot of other guns too. That being said the Remington is another great shotgun. The Maverick is essentially a Mossberg made shotgun just with different materials (and possibly outsourced?). Never shot an O/U so I have no opinion on that. But I have shot the Maverick 88 which is a cheap clone of the 500. Feels almost exactly like the 500. My buddy who owns it loves it. But the accessories for it are extremely limited due to the different construction that makes it differ from the 500 and not all parts are interchangeable between the 88 and 500. At least that is what my friend told. I do not own an 88 so I have not been able to test that theory. Have not had any range time with the Benelli so I can not put any suggestion down with that either. But from what I am told they are great guns. Just what I hear around the water cooler though. They are a little out of my price range for a shotgun that I do not need.

Just to be clear, my hearing pro comment was related to the comment in the OP that he didn't want to fire an AR without hearing protection... A shotgun Is louder.

Clearly, i'd shoot without them to protect my family...

thanks for everyone's input. and sorry that ive been Mia for so long on my own thread haha. but i just jailed another 590 with just the bead site. however i have a comment on a benelli. i was at chabot shooting trap last week and there were these two guys that both had benelli semi auto guns. im not sure the exact model but it looked like a vincci. but in camo? I dont keep up with benellis lastest and greatest but between both of their guns they had a few lite primer strikes? has this been heard of before with benelli? and the ammo they had was some fancy fiocchi that was brass and on the bottom had a blue ring of plastic. just seemed odd. im going to try and post more photos once im done building it .
