Thinking about getting a Benelli Super Nova

So I have recently been giving thought to adding another shotgun to my collection. I currently have a Mossberg 590A1 9 shot. I like it but there is just something about the Benelli that says to me, buy me!!! I searched the forum and wasn't really able to find much info from owners of the Super Nova. Just wondering if anyone here has one and can give me some insight.

I have a Mossberg 500. My brother has the benelli supernova

The benelli is nice, well balanced, action is smoother than the Mossberg, but I don't like the trigger on the benelli and I think it's a bit over priced. It's been reliable for him, he shoots around 2k round a year

IMHO there's not enough between the two to make me go out and buy one. I'd rather buy something different like a semi auto or over under. But if it has the cool factor for you and you just want it then I say go for it

I agree with the action on the Benelli. I handled one today at a Big 5 and I was really impressed with the action compared to my Mossberg. I hate guns lol!!!!! there are just way too many I want, yet don't really need.

Shot one today just after shooting a Mossberg 500 and the cool factor rocks it. Lots less perceived recoil too.
        Buy buy buy.

I almost bought the gun this afternoon after handling it. The one thing that stopped me is I didn't have my car with me, therefore I didn't have me registration.

I really like the way the gun looks stock and if I do pick it up I will probably leave it stock.

It looks like something out of the predator movies. I like my guns to look classic and not futuristic.

You shouldn't need a registration for a Long gun or did that change the first of this year?

Which SuperNova are you getting? The field version or the tactical one with ghost ring sight?

With a Mossberg 590A1 already, you might want to consider getting with field version with mid-bead and front red bar front sight, along with a longer barrel. It'll work better for clay shooting as some ranges have min. barrel length requirement.

I thought the same thing. But that's what the guy at Big 5 said. IDK if Big 5 is just doing a CYA thing or if he was just mistaken.

The Tactical model with the 18 inch barrel. The clay range my buddies go to requires a 22'' barrel minimum I think. I was thinking if I get the supernova I could always get a field barrel so I could shoot with them, and then sell my 590 since I hardly use it. I'm leaning more toward a nice HD gun. The 590 fits that bill but it's just a tad to long and heavy.

I guess I could always replace the stock and forend on the 590 and see if that improves the feel for me. I have been looking at the new magpul stuff for the 590.

My Supernova has performed better than my vintage M1 Super 90. It has less recoil and is of the same weight.

It also has all of the bells and whistles and I suggest you upgrade to the same degree if you do decide to obtain one.

Since this is a higher end scatter gun, the replacements parts will cost an arm and leg. (specifically the barrels and stocks)

I checked the DOJ site. You are correct you do not need registration for a long gun. I think it's because my current address is different than what's on my DL.

Mossberg doesn't even compare to a Benelli.

The Benelli has a way smoother action and overall better feel compared to the Mossberg. You may a pay a little more for the Benelli but its worth it.

I found the price tag that was on my Mossberg when I bought it. It's about 130.00 more than the Benelli. My Mossberg has the Bayonet and rifle sights on it which didn't help with the price.

you're better off getting a different barrel for the mossberg as the barrels for the benelli is upwards to $4-500.

I just picked up my Supernova a couple of days ago. I love it. Mine is a field gun though (28"). If you buy the tactical, it will cost you another 300-400 dollars for a field barrel. Thats tough to swallow. Benelli>Mossberg all day.
