Well, regarding the Limbsaver and fitting; that's what makes Kick Eez better: not only does the Sorbothane material in Kick Eez provide better impact (eg recoil) dampening than rubber, but it grinds down much easier, cleaner, and more uniform than any rubber pad (Limbsaver or Pachymar).
I just use a bench top belt sander and 220 grit aluminum oxide belt. I grind to the size/shape to exactly match the stock end (having traced it onto the bottom of the pad first) then finish the surface where I've ground by hand sanding with 400 grit and some Pledge furniture polish. Excellent results every time without drama. Can even shape the face of the pad at the toe (for raising the gun in sporting clays) and heel (to reduce poking at the bottom) of the pad and have it look great.
