My shot shell carrier is too long

I get a package with a single point sling and a GG&G rear sling attachment for my 930 SPX. I get the stock off and find this:

I got the 930 used with the shell carrier attached.
#1 What type of tool do I need to remove the Mesa carrier?
#2 To grind off enough metal, it would cut into a screw on the back of the carrier
#3 Using the last shot shell space as the attachment point
    #4 Ideas anyone? Thanks!

    Sell it and buy a GG&G ?

    http://www.amazon.com/GG-Mossberg-Sa...berg+930+addle (shop42a)

You might be able to do so without spending any money on top, and the GG&G saddle will definitely fit together with the sling mount. (6 shells instead of 8 though)

I have to remove enough for the sling attachment to move freely as well.

Trim it down with a file or Dremel as stated above. Who cares if it looks perfect as long as it works.

Keep the shell holder and don't use the single point you have. Get the Mesa single point, either the slot, loop or QD button as these mount through the rear screw on on the Mesa Shell holder. You may not mind grinding away on a $70 shell holder but should you decide to sell the gun one day a buyer might not like a "Bubba Job" on a gun they are buying.

Just buy a different sling adapter. I wouldn't run the sling on the side saddle.
