How is cleaning and maintenance? Do you have to completely disassemble the kit?

Yes this kit will work with ANY 12 gauge Remington 870 shotgun that uses 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells with a non-ribbed barrel.

If you wanted to detail clean you would need to spend 5 minutes and remove the front and top cover to get the receiver and barrel out.

Ive been cleaning with the kit fully assembled. I either use a bore snake or run the bore bush and patches from the business end to the receiver.

It's pretty bad, when you rub you finger on the rust spots they are raised and feel like a scab.

I've been keeping it oiled and store it in a sock but it really needs to be refinished.

I might actually have aippi do it when I get around to it.

That sucks Just make sure the sock is saturated in oil... soft cases suck guns dry (no homo) and leave them to rust.

Compared to a stock 870, how much harder is it to load? Speed difference?

I've seen a bunch of Youtube vids, but never see someone actually loading/reloading. Also, is it possible to mount a sidesaddle shell carrier on the stock?

I'm a lefty. Anyone try shooting southpaw?

Is muzzle flip and felt recoil less than stock? Design looks inline like AR, so faster follow up shot?

Loading is exactly the same as on any 870.

There are quite a few that shoot left handed on Bullpupforum and they report no issues with extraction or hitting themselves.

Muzzle flip is less since the weight distribution of the gun changes. Its very short and most of it is close to the body which makes it very controllable.

If anyone is in So Cal and you want to give it a try, I am at Oak Tree Gun Club regularly. I can bring it out.

Yes, any AR15 grip will work since the lower follows the AR15 grip profile.

Yes, you may have to remove the mag extension clamp to clear the kit however.
