    HD Shotgun for Lefties

I am looking for a good HD shotgun for my wife and I. I am a left handed and she is right handed. I like the Mossberg 930 SPX but I am not sure if the shell ejection trajectory will be an issue. I hunt with a Browning BPS which ejects from the bottom. Do you think this gun would work, or am I better off going with an 870 or a 590.

    Thanks!

I'm lefty. The shell on a shotgun isn't going to eject into your face unless it's some kind of bullpup.

The Mossberg safety, on the other hand, is a lot better for lefties than Remington. The mossberg safety is on top of the receiver, and without a pistol grip it's much easier for both sides to reach.

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

Why not use your Browning. You already own it, know how it works, and with an extra barrel, it can serve both your hunting needs and your HD needs.

Ithaca 37 is another bottom ejector... Might be able to find one that had already had its barrel chopped.

Mossberg 500. The safety is on top which is all you need to think about.

Funny you mention the 500. I have one that I inherited. I haven't shot it for almost 10 years. Perhaps I do a few upgrades to that. I just liked the semi auto as I believe it has less recoil for my wife.

Honestly any pump shotgun is almost fully ambidextrous. Their is no casing being ejected by a semi auto action and the pump is not worked like a bolt action is. I am a lefty and have no trouble with my 870 Supermag including operating the safety.

Go Mossy. Remington is doable but Mossberg's safety and manual forearm release are truly ambidextrous.

About the only Left hand Tactical being built out there that I know of.

The Mesa LEO Stock with Enidine Buffer eat up 12 ga recoil so anyone can shoot this weapon. Plus the guy that builds these is a man amoung men, ladies swoon at his feet, he is a legend in his own mind for sure, but he builds solid fighting shotguns so people put up with him.

I shoot lefty, and got one of those Tristar Raptor ATACs on sale at Turners. It's semi-auto, and for the misses, the recoil is much more manageable than a pump. No issues with ejection either.

Comes with pistol grip, ghost ring and fiber sights too. Worth a look imo.

Remington 870 LH version... like $380. Seems like a solid option.

As you shoot more, shooting support side becomes part of the program...

Some drills are easier as a lefty... single loading into the ejection port is natural when shooting left handed.

Recoil- You can find all types of 00 buckshot.
                              Magnum loads in 3"
or Low Recoil with around 1,200 FPS

If recoil is an issue, spend $325 at Big 5 and buy the 20 gauge version of the Mossberg 500

The 20 Gauge has significantly lower recoil than 12 gauge and it still has 3 times the energy of a 9mm/40 or .45 acp

It will be more difficult to find 20 gauge buckshot.... but is a lot easier to shoot
