    Wingmaster problems

I just bought a used 410 Wingmaster and it doesn't feed shells from the tube into the chamber most of the time. It does eject the shells once their loaded but from the tube to the chamber it will drop them out or not do anything. I also can't load 2-1/2" target loads into the tube. The brass on the shell is too large a diameter. I can only load 3" shells. Any ideas?

As a used gun it may simply need a tune up. Replace the magazine spring and the Carrier Dog follower spring and your feed issue will most likely go away. I would also clean the magazine tube out as there could be years of mess in there. Do that when you replace the magazine spring.

The diameter of the base of a .410 shell is the same no matter the length so I am clueless why you are having that issue, unless it is the ammo.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

When you disassemble to clean, take a look at the shell stop to see if they have crud or corrosion under them that prevents them from being depressed enough to release a shell onto the carrier.

If you have a plug, try removing it and load to full capacity.

If the first shell feeds fine and later shells don't feed then it is a sign the mag spring is weak and should be replaced.

On any older gun it is a good and inexpensive item to change.

But loading the first shell and not later or the last round is a simptom of the spring not being able to push hard enough.
It could be a weak spring and or junk and corrosion inside of the mag tube.

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

I would agree, start with a good thurough cleaning. Then, replace the magazine spring & follower, if needed.
