Ruger Red Label

I passed on one for $799 once. Thought about it for about a second, before the guy next to me picked it up and bought it.

Both me and my Father In Law have the Red Label Sporting Clays with the 30" barrels. I can tell you that based upon that ad, cosmetically it looks identical to mine. I am sure that they tweaked the innards a bit. I am just glad that Ruger is back to being a full line firearms maker. Hopefully they will expand into pumps, semi-autos too. How about a Ruger tactical 18" barrel pump? That could be intriguing.

I like Ruger guns, I own pistols, the shotgun, 10/22, they make good stuff and it is always a good value. Also, the new Red Label costs quite a bit less than I paid for mine and that was a good 10-12 years ago.

I don't own any Ruger Firearms, but I did buy some of their stock a couple months ago. It's doing great!

I own a 28" All Weather (SS/Syn) Red Label. I received it in a trade with another board member for an AR. I really like it. I am not a serious trap/skeet/bird shooter but it is the only gun I use for any of the three and I enjoy it. No reliability issues so far but it has been a bit pampered.

I know two people who bought Red Labels and both have reliability issues.

I'll stick with my Citori.

Is Ruger making these or are they having them made? Seems pretty cheap for "100% American made". Not quite sure what that means today either. 100% assembled with over seas parts? Or?????
I guess if I was interested in buying I'd find out.

Ruger quality hasn't been up to snuff lately. I also worry that it's "redesigned" a latin term for cheaper.

I'm curious, if Ruger can make a go of the O/U Red Label for $1,200, why did they struggle so terribly with the SxS Gold Label for even more $$$?

Two years ago I began searching for a Red Label. A month into the search I was offered a deal on a Browning. I still sort of wish I had held out for an all American shotgun.

If its a Citori or a Superposed its superior to any Ruger shotgun.. I like Rugers but Red Labels are inferior to both Browning and Beretta.. The Red Labels, in general, if you got one that worked, they don't have the long term durability you would find with a name brand over/under.. Personally, I couldn't spend my hard earned money on something that has the atrocious wood to metal fit that was found on the Red Labels...

It was a hassle, but on the old ones, you could return it to Ruger Service and they could disable the auto safety for you, hopefully they are still doing that. I agree, I don't like that feature. Damn lawyers.
