including my view on the negatives and positives

Saiga 12 or

+semi-auto
+possibly can be converted into auto?
+huge mags
+can break it down into parts? just like my Saiga 762 and I'm familiar with it
-expensive ($800+)
-doesnt have the pump sound (love that)
-probably less reliable, I've seen shells get lodged in saiga 12's before, this could be human error??
-longer than i'd like for a self defense gun?? is the OAL longer than 18" rem?

Remington 870
+cheaper($350+)
+has the pump action shotty sound (GTFO of my house!)
+looks better IMO


So what yall think about this? Anybody here own a Saiga 12...? Seems like most of you probably own a pump action and semi. Also, is Saiga 12 legal in CA?

+magazine can be topped off between shots
+if you are into making your guns look "cool", then you can put pistol grips, telescoping stocks or other tacitcool features on it.

You do realize that if you keep a round in the chamber, you don't need to rack the pump on an 870 when an intruder is in the house, right? And if you didn't keep a round chambered, you'd still need to rack the Saiga, which would sound pretty much like a pump... And in between shots, no one will be able to hear the pump anyway...

OP, I suggest the 870. It just seems more practical and handier. Not as awesome as a Saiga semi shotgun, but reliable and smooth. Why deal with magazines? Need more shells, shove them in the gun on the move.
