The two video reviews I've seen both show that the shells ejecting hits the shooter's wrist pretty hard. You guys who have them must be wearing long sleeve jackets or have something on your wrist to deflect the shells.

Note the bandage on the guy's wrist.

Note the long sleeve shirt and gloves.

And yet you never hear that complaint from anyone who owns one or has fired one on the board. Gotta love internet analysis.

Now the old High Standard bullpup- shoot it left handed and you WILL have a very bad day

I was agnostic on the KSG until I handled one at my LGS...let's just say I'm now a convert and have one inbound. Of course, I may convert back once I have it out to the range!

What impressed the heck out of me was that it's not much longer than my Rem 870 AOW, yet it holds 14 rounds vs. 4 for the AOW. Pretty cool.

If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

A nearby LGS got one in a few weeks back. They let me see it, and informed me that they were taking bids for it. I told them $600.

They said that bidding was already up to $3,000. I told them, "Yeah, but it's a Kel-Tec. So...$600."

They were not as amused as I was.

As for the gun, it seems to be relatively well made for KT being a 2nd tier manufacturer.
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

Paid $800 for mine but I was on a waiting list for about 1.5 years! Overall I think it's pretty awesome if you can get it at a good price. Bad location for the strap mount. It's right next to the end of the barrel! wtf. You will shoot your strap off! It did have some misfeeds and a jam with 2 3/4" shells this past weekend. Manual says they will work but they recommend 3" shells. Maybe just user error and / or break-in period needed. Now I'm waiting for the SRM 1216.

Wouldn't even waste time on a KSG. Look at Benelli M2's or the FN MK1. I'd opt for the FN over the Benelli and I even own the M2 Tactical.

People compare it to a Benelli because you could buy an M4 or maybe two M2's for the same price as a KSG. I'd take a $1500 M4 over a $2000 KelTech any day.

I had the chance to shoot a KSG a few weeks ago. It was nice - if it wasn't for the steep price I'd get one.

I shot two chambers worth of 12ga (I think) from a friend's KSG. Fun shotty, way less recoil than a traditional shotty (500, 870, etc.), but I wouldnt pay an exorbitant amount of money for it.

                          great set up very inspirational

i do have one suggestion due to my experience shooting the UTAS version that is very similar -> put on a stop in the front as well. ones hand can still slip and I know you wouldn't want to hurt your own hand. just my .2 cents of course

                          here is the gun:

this is the article that convinced my cousin to go with the UTAS (light, laser etc) there is a pic comparing the two (i like the the grip)

Any new gun in the market should face extreme scrutiny. This is particularly true of a new design, and even more so of a new concept, engineered into a new design. Back in 2011 we got our first look at a bullpup 15 round pump shotgun in the form of the Kel-Tec KSG. At the time, most gunwriters who got one were elated with the gun, including us. But part of that elation was that this entirely new concept had come from Kel-Tec, an American company that had already pulled off groundbreaking products like the PMR-30 and another bullpup, the .308 caliber RFB rifle. Nothing about the KSG was a disappointment. The engineering made sense, and the gun worked fabulously. This year a new 15 round bullpup came into the market called the UTS-15 from UTAS-USA. It has the magazine tubes on the top instead of the bottom like the KSG. It has a built in flashlight/laser combo, and it is made in Turkey. We were finally able to get our hands on one this week, and like any other newly designed mechanical device, there are positives and negatives to the gun. Overall it worked well, but we did have some light strikes and mis-feeds. Understanding the differences between the UTS-15 and the KSG will be a big part of deciding which gun to try to buy. The KSG is still extremely backordered, selling for up to twice MRSP, while the UTS-15, MSRP $1200, is currently available in the market at close to that price. The UTS-15 is a lot of gun for the money, and if a 15 round shotgun is in your future, this may be the superior gun. Is it a KSG killer? No. But is it a viable option? Possibly yes.

have fun stay safe and enjoy!

How does the KSG look at $1200 compared to a bullpup Rem 870 setup at half price that has 7 rds and keeps the side ejection port?
