That maybe true and I am no professional clay shooter nor an avid hunter. I just enjoy shooting the clay sports on occasion and I also reload my ammo.

I found that I can actually reload bulk ammo, you just have to ensure your hulls and shells are good and the paper wad hasn't been exposed to water.

Aside from that, premium loads do yield more consistent results, but the bulk patterns are plenty accurate for most needs.

Sounds like a good summary of the issues and the tradeoffs you've made. As you mention, many people reload the bulk ammo. I know some that only reload it once. Others inspect the hulls and get more than one reloading.

The thing about the bulk shells as opposed to the premium stuff.. the premium shells reload just so much nicer.. it goes through your press faster and with less effort.. you don't have to worry about crushing it in the final crimp station like the STS/AA's as much.. I can load just about any hull, but if I have/want to load anything in any kind of bulk, I prefer to load the AA/STS hulls over just about anything else..

Nick - For ducks and geese you should buy a single box of each (If you don't know what size shot you need, or have never been hunting ask this in the hunting forum) and pattern your gun.

Now the type of waterfowling you will be doing will somewhat dictate what choke you use however patterning your gun will ensure that when you miss it's not b/c your gun/choke don't "like" that ammo and you have a hole in your pattern. I shoot estate at ducks/geese and order it by the case. If you have deep pockets or won't hunt much it's still economical to go with something more expensive.

I found that Improved cylinder with 3" - #3's and 2-3/4" #2's come best out of my gun.
