I pay about $65 a case for Estate target loads. That is a decent deal. Hard to beat that rice these days.

You have Quail Point Sporting Clays in Zamora and Bird Landing in the Fairfield area.....there are Trap and Skeet Clubs near Sac also.

Go out and have fun....

The extra price you are paying for over the bulk ammo really is reloading capability to the shell. The more expensive shells typically are made with more hardy materials to survive multiple fires.

Hunting with bulk ammo shouldn't be an issue as long as you select the proper shot size.

Hmm. I want to get into reloading so that may be a deal breaker on bulk ammo

I think you underestimate the advantages of premium ammunition. Top shooters are not paying for premium ammo so they can reload it (although that may play a role in the decision). They shoot it because it is more reliable, more consistent and patterns better. I believe most would take a non-reloadable round if it get them better results.

Go to Sportsmans Warehouse in Rocklin. It is hit and miss but they usually have stock every couple of weeks. It sells it quickly for the target loads.

A couple weeks ago, I found 12g Federal 1 1/8oz dove loads at Walmart for $5.87/box. I simply filled up a shopping cart with 3 cases worth (I left a lot more than that), went to the front of the store and paid for them.

The last type of Fiocchi shotshells I bought cost a bit more than $69/case but, they were 28g.

That maybe true and I am no professional clay shooter nor an avid hunter. I just enjoy shooting the clay sports on occasion and I also reload my ammo.

I found that I can actually reload bulk ammo, you just have to ensure your hulls and shells are good and the paper wad hasn't been exposed to water.

Aside from that, premium loads do yield more consistent results, but the bulk patterns are plenty accurate for most needs.
