Just for my cz 612 hc-p Monday and I have yet clean it, was looking for advice on oil points and what parts to clean before shooting, also I was cycling shells threw it and the carrier seems to get hung up, could it be I'm short shucking it or should I wait to shoot it to start thinking there is something wrong, the owners Manuel doesn't really give details on what to clean and oil

I always clean after every use. I clean the bore and make sure the bolt and action is lubed up. Once a month, I take everything apart and check it for wear and re-lube.*********************

1. PW 800+ Hydro Multispeed (just the hydraulic unit that also works with Spolar press)

What does the owners manual sayto do? FWIW, I shoot a pump in a trap league. I typically go around 1000 rounds between cleanings. It still behaves flawlessly at that point and isn't all that dirty.RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.Comment

what is this cleaning you speak of?!Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...Comment

I run a boresnake through my pump gun after shooting it and before storing it. I'll take out the choke every couple of cleanings and make sure it's still clean. If not, I'll clean it with some 0000 steel wool and do the chamber while I'm at it. I tear it apart and clean the internals after duck season (or if I manager to drop it in the salt marsh).
After 3 seasons it's probably about time to pull the magazine spring and clean the mag tube.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

Awesome shotgun! I have debating the CZ 612 HC-P for a while as it looks to be not only great value, but the only HD shotgun I found that comes with chokes.Just for my cz 612 hc-p Monday and I have yet clean it, was looking for advice on oil points and what parts to clean before shooting, also I was cycling shells threw it and the carrier seems to get hung up, could it be I'm short shucking it or should I wait to shoot it to start thinking there is something wrong, the owners Manuel doesn't really give details on what to clean and oil
Oil points for my shotguns are really only the bolt and the rails that the bolt rides on in the receiver. Aside from that there isn't really much to keep oiled.
When you cycle the shells, do you cycle with authority or are you slowly cycling the bolt back?

I would say YouTube or bing searched video is your friend. Nothing better than seeing it done step by step and being able to rewind and stuff at your own speed. I also do a semi cleaning after light use. I only do full takedowns before and after tactical classes or shooting matches."Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

In general, you do not need to do thorough cleanings on a pump gun to keep it running in top shape. The same cannot necessarily be said for a semi-auto if you're running that semi in a defensive role. Although I have a Beretta that runs and runs even when the thing is filthy.
That bein said, why wouldn't you clean your pump guns as often as possible? If it's a defensive gun then the regular cleaning makes sense. And even if it's just a range gun, always keeping something clean just helps to maintain the investment.
As a previous poster said, check youtube if you're not sure how to oil it. In general, oil any part where metal runs on metal. And a little (a very little) goes a long way.Comment

To be honest I wasn't really cranking on it ill have to pump with authority when I shoot it soonAwesome shotgun! I have debating the CZ 612 HC-P for a while as it looks to be not only great value, but the only HD shotgun I found that comes with chokes.

pump guns just run on ammo and oil...the dirtier they are the slicker and faster they are to shoot.... just keep adding oil.Comment

I clean my 870 super mag after every time I shoot it unless its just a couple of boxes at my indoor range. Most of the time I just clean out the barrel and spot clean the parts on the receiver. I like shooting my boom stick because I can clean it faster than any other of my firearms.Want to Buy: Ruger PC9 Magazine Buttstock PouchComment

I only clean my shotguns about once a year, at the end of hunting season, if they saw some use. In general they don't get too much internal maintenance. They do get wiped down with oil before getting put away, to prevent any rust, almost every time. Some shotguns, the chambers and bores never ever see a wet patch. Just the actions get occasionally inspected, quickly cleaned and lubed, and put back together.
Regarding your shotgun, like another poster said, wait 'til you shoot it on the range and run it with authority, before you worry about anything.Last edited by Tanner68; 07-15-2013, 1:32 AM.Comment
