    Wooden dowel, seriously?

I finally found some live shells for my brand-new Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader. Low and behold I was only able to load 2 shells in the tube because there was a wooden dowel in my PUMP shotgun

It's a legality thing all shot guns (as far as my knowledge) come with them out of the shop.

I've chucked every single one as soon as I got home accept the one in my 870 cause it was plastic and I saw them going for $30 online hah!

Edit: The way CA is going we might want to keep these being with out them they will probably be assault shotguns in a few years with out perm capped mag tubes

Had the same problem when I got mine home, was like "2 shells, this POS is broken!" Because who reads the manual for a shotgun, right? They mention it in there but still...yeah...stupid requirement.

As well as most other states. That's why the dowel is there. They don't offer special California versions of their shotguns.

It's not a California thing, it's a hunting thing. You'd be pissed if you bought a shotgun and it didn't come with the plug if you were are duck hunter.

Take it out, no harm, no foul. Just don't go hunting with it.

Yeah, going hunting and being able to load more than 2 rounds in the tube will get you in some serious trouble.

I don't hunt much and shoot more clays, so I personally take out the dowel.

But all my black tacticool shotguns never came with them, even when the gun shop goes in the back and grabs a new one still sealed in the original box.

Any act of hunting with a shotgun capable of holding more than 3 rounds will get you a big fine and a years loss of hunting privileges. No matter what you are hunting! Thats right, if you are deer hunting and you have an unloaded shotgun in your car with no plug, it will be enough to get a ticket and fine. i have seen it happen.

Actually come think of it, that is very true. My Maverick 88 security didn't have a dowel for a limiter.

If you're shooting clays why do you need more than 2 shells at a time. For all sports you only have two targets maximum at one station.
