870 express are known for having rust problems and rough chambers that cause "sticking"(hard extraction).
Luckily the Wingmaster don't...................mine is over 35 plus years old and not a bit of rust.
Oil the exterior and polishing the chamber seems to help cure the problem thought?

QFTW I have super sweaty hands. That's the only rust I ever run into being I don't hunt. But you can see every place my finger has touched or the gun has been held by there being a spot of brown in the shape of a finger or palm.

the sock sounds like a good idea. I will look into that.

How much does it cost to just have the thing cerakoted?

Maybe my 870 Express is different as mine is the Express Defender, but mine has a matt black parkerized or similar finish that has never had a rust issue.

The Remington 870 Wingmasters (blued or parked) resist rust nicely with just a light coating of BreekFree CLP---the Express models start to rust immediately! A few years back some folks did a "rusty nail test" on clean, degreased nails that were then coated with different oils/rust prevent/grease etc. BreakFree CLP was one of the very best at preventing rust---also a fine lube too---I've been using it for decades---no rust.
