    Which one from Big 5?

There are three choices, the 870 Express for $330, Mossberg 2 barrel combo for $260 and the Interstate 1887 for $260.

I used to have the same mossberg combo years ago and it was good value but eventually after a few thousands rounds it started to jamb. The plastic safety also broke two times but today someone makes an aluminum replacement for it.

I have the 870 wingmaster at my brothers house in a far away state and I want to keep it there. It's been awsome. many thousands of rounds thru it and it still runs like a...an animal that runs well or a good tractor

Don't know anything about the interstate 1887 other than it's made in china.

I've also seen that they sometimes have the Remingtom/Baikal single shot. I had one of those when I was a kid and it's an ugly but reliable shotgun. I remember seeing it at Big 5 for around $70 or $80.

My use for it is to have in camp gun.

I like the single shot because it's a take-down shotgun that can stow in my duffle and it's the cheapest.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks,
    Smitty

I called big 5 and they haven't had the single shot remington/bakail for a long time. Too bad!

I like the 870 best but if I'm prepared to spend more, is there anythign else I should be looking at in similar price as the 870?

Nope. That's why the flame wars are always the 870 vs. the 500 / 590.

All up to you, you're the shooter, they all perform, Everyone will have different answers, I personally like the 500 because my old Savage has the same top Safety, and not into Tacticooling a shotgun so don't care if it lacks in the accessory department, I also don't want an expensive customized shotgun to be taken away in the event I use it to kill a lunatic intruder and have to go over CA legal fun for defending myself.
Got my Utah CCW, Thanks JimAmentler!

get the 870 or Mossy. Either one will serve you well for a while. The Interstate stuff although built like a tank does not have too good a finish on them. Mine started rusting & I am going to get it Duracoated so that's added cost & time. YMMV.

personal preference, 870 and the 500 both good shotguns, I would go for the 500 combo if your'e interested in skeet or trap, two for one!

I might get flamed for this, but I bought my Charles Daly Field Tactical from big 5 and have about 125 rounds through it with no problems. I am pretty sure you can get the longer barrel for it also. If you are on a budget and they go on sale again, you might be able to get it brand new for around 200 dollars. Also, Mr. Kasner, of Charles Daly, KBI Imports, has an account on here and checks in from time to time. If you have a problem with it, I am sure he would fall over himself to make it right.

                    Just my opinion.

Also have a CD Field Tactical, good no frills shotgun for the money ($180-$200).
Just add an ammo sleeve & sling.

Tough call, but I'm leaning towards the Mossberg combo. I'm just a sucker for versatility.

Mossberg. Sell the second barrel. Brings it down to a $200 gun

Handle both the Mossberg 500 and the 870, then buy the 870
