870P sometimes cannot eject fired round

This is a common problem for my 870 but ONLY with walmart specific winchester ammo.

i avoid it like the plague.

I scoured the Internet for days trying to figure out why my brand spanking new 870 tactical express was not allowing me to pump the next shell in. I narrowed it down to this:

When you pull on the forend, the single extractor pulls down on shell's rim, what that does is cause the shell to pivot, pushing the opposite side of the shell's rim into the barrel precisely where those burrs/bumps are.
(Mossbergs are dual extractor and therefore pull on opposing ends of the shell rim simultaneously. That is why they don't do this.)

Fix: 1. Call Remington and have them ship you a new barrel.

OR

2. Remove those imperfections. I took a dremel and smoothed out that part, cleaned and polished it up then put some Nu Finish to prevent oxidation. Took it out to the range and it was like a completely different shotgun. I went through a box of cheapo Winchester game shells (which everyone blames for the jams. Wrong.) without a single problem. It felt like cutting through warm butter.


In this pic, put your finger where the red arrow is pointing to. If you feel a bump or bumps...basically if it's not smooth as a baby's arse, there is your problem.

Had a friend send his to Remington and they said they fixed it. It still jammed up to the point where he would have to slam the butt on the ground to eject the shell. When he called Remington again they said it was fixed and that he would have to pay for further service. This would happen with a variety of loads.

Never had this problem with my mossy 500. Nor have any of my friends.

I only have this problem when I use the Walmart Winchester value pack.

I have the same issue this afternoon. Winchester ammo stuck and i cant rack the forend.
