I have an 870 Police model that I picked up new about 6 months ago. I've taken it to the range 4 times now and have put about 100 rounds through it (80% bird, 20% buck). I have had 7 or 8 rounds that got stuck in the chamber after they fired where I couldn't rack open the slide. It would take a good deal of muscle and banging to get the action to finally open. For all other rounds the action was very smooth.
I have noticed that the rounds that got stuck were all of the same brand (I forget at the moment) but other brands worked flawlessly. The bad rounds were all #8 bird btw.
I obviously stay away from that ammo but I am wondering about the gun itself. Should a new 870P (I'm assuming slightly higher quality than a standard 870 - could be wrong) get stuck on rounds and not be able to eject them? That seems crazy to me. So is there a problem with the gun or does perhaps the action just need to get worked in?
Any tips or advice would be appreciated.
