    Indoor range-SHOTGUN?

So I goes to the indoor range to do some scope in my 10/22. The counter-policeguy says show it, so I does. Then he says "I hope you have ammo because we have none". I says "Sure I do, but what "DO" you have?". He says "We have lots of shotgun shells".

So he shows me and I ask why they have it. Then he tells me they rent shotguns for use there. In an indoor range? I had no idea.

By the way there was no one on the lanes at 6pm on a Wednesday due to ammo shortage.

I know Island View in Ventura will let you use a shotgun. Seems like a lot of people renting like to go blast away and shred targets with them.

Use indoor ranges just to break in a shotgun. I don't even use targets except for patterning. Leaving shredded targets on the range floor is for people having fun / noobies.

BLM land is where you should really have fun with a shotgun. Too bad lots of people never pick up their shells and they're really visible.

I guess if it floats your boat, fine. Shook my head though.

This was "The Target Range" in Van Nuys. The only ammo they had was reloads. The boxed ammo shelves were pretty bare.

What's the big deal of shredding targets at an indoor range? What else are you going to do with the shotgun?

Field Time in Stanton (near Disneyland) also allows shotguns, but only if you use slugs bought from them, no buck or birdshot.

At IVE it's actually not that bad. Someone shooting and SCAR 17 next to you is way worse.

                        Sorta what I was thinking...

With that said, my range, On Target, doesn't allow SG's. Too many people have blasted the lights, ceiling, etc.

Some ranges permit them, some don't.

Depends on the range, depends on what you want to do.

Targetmasters only allows birdshot, can't do anything but pattern birdshot there unless you just like shredding targets, which plenty of people do, who cares.

Reeds lets you use buckshot and slugs as well. You can check patterns, shred paper, break it in, intentionally beat up your shoulder, whatever you want.

That's my range, I shoot shotgun there every once in a while. You have to use their ammo though, so you don't sneak in slugs.

Last time I went I bought the last 3 boxes of .22lr they had. Counter guy asked "oh, you're going to be *that* guy?" I said "yep, someone is, might as well be me."
