congratulations, those ten days can be hell. Make sure you give it a proper clean and lube.

I love my Mav 88. I bought it in 2000 when I turned 18 at a Wal Mart in Central Texas for $189.00. Going on 13 years of abuse still works like a charm. As stated the factory butt pad is hard and not very comfortable. Much better with a different stock. Best money I have ever spent. I made mine tacticool but I change it to the factory barrel and stock when I use it for other than HD.

Maverick 88 here. Great gun for the price. I've changed out the stock and added a side saddle. If the price was right I'd buy another one just because they are a great value.

If it is for a Massberg 500 than yes. The barrels and stocks from either will directly swap.

I have one. It was the first gun I ever bought when I turned 18. I've bought and sold a lot of guns since then, but I keep this one around for sentimental reasons.

I miss my old Mav 88. Only had it for about a month, put some money & parts into it, and then sold it shortly after at a huge loss since I wanted something else

I really liked where the safety was on the shotgun. The only thing I didn't like on the Maverick 88 shotguns was that the forend was 1-piece, so you need to buy a new forend slide assembly and nut if you want to put on a different forend. I put on the Hogue Tamer stuff on my Mav and it felt really good and very controllable with 00 buckshot & slugs.
