    LOL guys... the Big 5 special is a 1-piece forend that cannot be replaced without replacing the entire slide assembly. This is per Mossberg themselves. I've owned like four of them.

      Call Mossberg themselves and order it (provided its in stock). You can use either the 7-3/4" with the standard nut, or the 6-3/4" with the Hogue extended nut. Either setup will fit the modern fore grips that are on the market.

      I used the 6-3/4" with Hogue nut on my 500 because it was easier to find when I converted mine to the Hogue fore end.

      Brownells and MidwayUSA are also good places to order, but they appear to not have them at this time.

        I like the magpul forend on my 870 and they are coming out with one for the mossy soon.
        And yes the koolaid is delicious.

          If memory serves me right, "aippi" has mentioned before that a vertical pistol grip on your forend will eventually tweak your action bars and the action will over time start to bind up. Food for thought...
