Someone needs to make low recoil buck in that caliber.

        Worlds biggest shotgun

Actually, that's not it. The worlds biggest shotgun, is a 106MM recoiless rifle
loaded with a "Beehive" round. 4,000 flechettes! LOL

Several days later the bolt was rusted shut but I guess the fouling wasnt TOO bad.

                Japanese 18.1 inch shotgun

The Imperial Japanese battleships Yamato and Musashi had 460mm guns, 18.1 inch, which shot anti-aircraft shells which exploded once out of the barrel, intending to shred airplanes like a shotgun. I suppose that's not quite a shotgun tho. As far as I know, there were no recorded instances of them ever actually shooting down any airplanes.

                  big shotgun

True, you never said that it's the biggest, but I'm having fun with this thread!
As to the battlship guns, I think a "Shotgun' would man portable. Which the 106 is. By three or four men, anyway!LOL

the punt gun was used by professional hunters for taking flocks of birds. kinda like the modern commercial fisherman using nets to catch masses of fish, back then hunters would mount the punt gun on a small rowboat and creep thru the reeds and bag a whole flock of birds at once with one shot.

I like the comment about how the guy who made it thinks they used them in the 50s or something....yeah 1850s.

There was a vendor at the Great Western in Pomona who used to display an double barrel 4 gauge percussion punt gun.
