    Precision Shooting with Shotgun... lol

So me and my buddy were chatting about precision shooting the other day. We talked about all the high precision shooting rifles to handguns then the thought came in mind and we said no one has tried high precision shooting with a smoothbore shotgun before! Yes, we know its not a precision firearm but it'll be a blast to see how well they shoot at 400, 500, 600 yards! haha.

Anyone every taken their shotguns out to that far? I'd say 45 degree angle might reach 600. If not anyone wannt try?! I would love to but Im limited to 300 yards.

Seems 300 would be a pretty far shot with a shotgun

I think you would want to use a Sabot slug

Hornady sabots claim 2" at 100 yards...with 7" drop at 200 yards, not sure about 300 yards plug

Well just yesterday I was at Angeles and had already setup a target at 100yrd when I realized I had forgotten my mags for my AR. So I decided to shoot some slugs from my Benelli M4.

          The Trijicon RMR helps.

I shoot with a guy that can consistently hit a steel silhouette at 200 yards shooting slugs out of an 870 with an 18" barrel.

That's the farthest I've seen, in person.

At the recent LMS Defense shotgun class (AAR at the link) we were shooting slugs on steel from smoothbores out to 75 yards plus from prone and squatting positions in mud and it was no big deal. 200 yards was available (and we'd have needed some coaching) but we didn't get to it before the end of the day.
