OK,
Background:
I have a Mossberg Persuader with some aftermarket junk bolted on to it.
I picked up one of those ATI heat shields because I thought it looked cool.
The heat shield kept sliding forward on the barrel, so I thought a roll pin or two would keep it in place.
I decided to drill 2 x 1/16" holes on 2 of the tabs for the heat shield, and corresponding holes in the barrel, but not deep enough to break the surface.
Problem:
The roll pins are 1/16"D x 1/4"L, and in drilling the first one I punched through the barrel surface.
The roll pins are in place, and now I have a hole on the right side, set at 7 o'clock, 6" forward of the chamber.
Did I just ruin a barrel? With a 1/16" hole (now 1/32" if you factor in the roll pin") did I just create a torch/bomb?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

. That 30 dollar heat shield just cost you a $95 replacement. Oh well lesson learned right?
