    410 autoloader

I've wanted a 410 for a while for bird hunting mostly and skeet. I really want the adjustable chokes on them and an autoloader. Given that I have pretty much settled on a Remington 1100 since that seems to be the only one made any more, and I haven't really seen any used ones that are recent enough to have the removable chokes on them.

I was wondering if anyone had any other manufactures or models I should consider. I would go with a side by side, or over and under but again I want the adjustable choke, and the only used ones I see are older fixed choke guns.

Any suggestions on where to find the best price on a new Remington 410. I would probably have to order it because I just don't think there are a lot kept on the shelves. I might be wrong. I don't get out much.

Um, I think this sums it up

I looked on the Browning Web site, they only offer the 410 in the BPS and the Citori..

I looked on the Remington web site and this was what I gleaned off of their website..

Rounding out the Remington family of sporting shotguns is the Model 1100 Sporting 410 —the only autoloading .410 bore shotgun available on the market today. The Model 1100 Sporting 410 features a 27-inch vent rib, Rem™ Choke barrel for better balance and smooth handling in the quick paced world of clay target sports. The stock and fore-end are crafted of semi-fancy American walnut enhanced with a high gloss finish and crisp cut checkering. Complimenting the handsome wood stock is a high polished, deep blue finish on all exposed metal, and a gold plated trigger. This .410 bore autoloader comes equipped with standard twin bead sights, and four interchangeable Rem™ Choke tubes in Skeet, Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full.
So if you want a semi-auto in 410, this is likely your only option unless you can find a 410 auto loader from an earlier era.. Especially since you specifically want screw in choke tubes.. the 1100 is it..

If you don't mind a pump gun, the 870 or BPS are nice little guns.. I have shot an 870 in 410.. it doesn't kick too bad when compared with a 20 or a 12. Shells are pricey, usually something like $10/25.. and usually more like $12/25.. I tried reloading the 410 and it gave me fits.. I sold the hulls and press some years back.

Mossberg has an over/under .410 with removable choke tubes.........

Mossberg is pleased to announce the next generation of these classically-styled and handsomely-crafted shotguns – the Silver Reserve II Series with the features that hunters and shooters expect from high-quality double guns.

There seem to be lots of different 410's available, but the OP stated specifically for a semi-auto.. Saiga's in 410? Never ceases to amaze me.. It's hard enough getting 12 ga mags for it.. how hard is it for the 410?

Yea that is pretty much what I saw also. the 11 87 seems to be discontinued in .410.

The Saigas that I have seem all look like tactical short barreled rifles. Like I said this is mostly for hunting birds so I want a 3 shot magazine and around a 28" barrel. Just seems like short of finding a used one, the only option is a new Rem 1100. Which is OK but I'm wondering where I can get the best deal. And I'm thinking there probably aren't any (deals).

Well the Mossberg may be an option in side by side or over and under. It's a little cheaper than the Remington. But then I'll have to think about the trade off of a couple hundred to the autoloader and an extra shell when hunting. I'm going to look into them though.

Actually on their web site the side by side doesn't come in .410, but the over and under does and it is only $693. I'll have to think about that because the 1100 is over $1200 suggested retail price.

After you started asking about a 410 autoloader.. now I'm thinking that this might be a nice addition to my collection.. See what you started?!?!

Someone I know has a more advanced 410 loader, an 8567 grabber... maybe something easier to load on than the 600 jr I had years ago.. I always preferred the collet resizer to the ring on the 600 jr..

About 2 years ago a seller here on CG had a Rem 1100 28 ga Skeet T and a.410 skeet T for sale. $1600 for both. I bought the 28 for $700 and passed on the .410. BIG mistake!

The 28 runs great, looks great and I now long for the .410 that I let get away.
