Which Shotgun

Hey everyone,
I am looking for a shotgun and was looking for some suggestions. The two that I am mainly considering are the Remington 870 or the Benelli Supernova. I want something for like tactical but Also clay shooting and maybe some hunting one day.

Ford or Chevy. Shoot both, pick the one that shoots the best...

Yea. But I don't have or now anyone that has both. I have shot the 870 and yea it's nice. Don't like the reloading on the 870 that much. I felt the benelli at the local gun store. It felt nice and was comfortable. Anyone out there have the supernova.

Unless you care about spending hundreds of dollars on after market accessories and pimping out your 870 get the Benelli Supernova. It's a Ferrari if the 870 is a Camaro. Comes with alot more standard and is really worth the price. Open up both and compare the fit and finish of everything and you'll decide.

Main reason to get an 870 over it is to add toys to it.

Is it an 870 express or 870 wingmaster?

I have seen a large majority of 870 express barrels that have the choke drilled in so far off concentric you can easily tell by looking down the bore, which means you wont hit what you shoot at.

A lot have problems extracting shells too

Im not a huge fan of expensive shotguns. Ive had a mossberg 500 big 5 special forever and I usually shoot at least 23/25 every time im at the range and I have destroyed quail year after year. I cannot justify spending big money on a shotty.

doesn't really matter in my experience. you can narrow it down fairly easily:
-pick a gauge
-figure out how much money you have to spend
-go to the gun shop and try a few for size as well as see if you like the controls

like the dude above said, its like the difference between ford/chevy or apples/oranges either would be fine but you gotta figure out what you like.

i have the 870 and i love it. i use it only for fun and home defense. i also have a baikal o/u that i use for hunting and clays. don't limit yourself to only one shotgun!!! you will buy more!

I have the Super Nova. I like it for its workmanship, smooth operation, distinctive look, and the ability to swap out different type of ammo in between shots is nice. However, it can only take 4+1 from the factory. You can get a 2+ extension, but being an import gun, you'll have to deal with 922r regulation on such mod. There's not a whole lot of aftermarket stuff for it either if you plan to accessorize it. Everything is expensive from Benelli.

Also, if you get the Super Nova, it is easier to field strip the standard stock version as no special tools is required. With the pistol grip version, you'll need to carry a 13mm socket with you to field strip the gun. Something to consider.

Thanks for the info everyone. The main thing I like about the Benelli is the look. I have shot the 870 and don't care for the reloading. I'm not looking to do to much to it at first maybe something small later on.
