To bad I see him in person about twice a week, (and don't worry hes no different than on calguns, just more pink clothing in real life)Comment

Post a picture of him sometime.
His good side, say about from the nape of his neck to the small of his back.
No crack please.
If there's pink clothing between those two spots, we know he's a native SF local.Randall Rausch

No hatin, just ribbing.
I used to go to SF every month for work.
Got out of there as quick as I could each time.
I could feel the liberalism all around me.
My skin was crawling.
We need guys with strong stomachs behind enemy lines fighting for us.
Guys like you and Soldier.
You can even have USNchief, but I suspect he will be on the next boat out of town.Randall Rausch

Turns out it is a real 1955 browning superposed.
I can run it over for you to check out if you're free today, I'd like your opinion on if it can be saved.
you also can take a look at that blood damaged 1991A1 if you'd like, and check out the fully assembled shorty 91/30
I actually don't chop shotguns with a hacksaw, I use a pipe cutter, a pattern file, a coping saw and a wood rasp.
and lots and lots of sandpaper.Comment

I have to run out this morning to move a car and a jeep.
Unless you want to make a retrieval run with me right now.
I shorten shotgun barrels with the bandsaw and crown with the lathe or mill, which-ever is appropriate to the type of barrel.Randall Rausch

I have some old Marlins like yours..
From all my reading about them, I've learned to be sure and shoot low power loads, such as low rim birdshot, AAs-type stuff. All the records from those days has been lost and nobody's too sure about the metal's hardness. I bought one in working order, and another basket case to try my hand at restoring one. All the barrels are interchangeable it seems from all those early models. I've bought a few barrels on ebay. One was chopped nicely. I'm in L.A., If you're interested in checking them out, call or PM me.
Some good info:

She showed up today, looks to be in prety good condition.
she has a four didget serial number 693X and the latest patent date on her is 1909 and says that there are two patents pending.
One interesting thing is that the screws that hold the forend on are not the same as the one that uclaplinker linked too.
Also another neat thing I figured out is that its a takedown gun...
Anyhow, I'll try to post pics when I have a free day.
I'm going to try to figure out what it is before I make the final decision on chopping it or notComment
